Yet another one man crusade it seems.
The continuing notion of coming on to Hibs.net to debate about how moronic / clownish / thick / wide other Hibbies are on Twitter and Facebook is banal.
Likewise is the relentless defence of whatever the club do and how they do it. Quite often they get it terribly wrong and it’s not Twitters doing that they do so.
Given that there are a few people of the same opinion, who's the one man in question?
As for myself, my default position isn't to defend the club. However if I disagree with what people are saying then I'll say so - it's a forum for discussion is it not?
Or maybe you've decided otherwise?

Yes.
There you go again.
So why don't you have a go at others who are of the same opinion as me?
I've had a few separate debates with people on this thread, quoting posts back and forward - I'm not just randomly scatter-gunning my opinion, yet you obviously feel that you have the right to criticise that, whilst I don't have the right to comment on what others are saying?
I always thought that the admins did a good job on here, I didn't realise that you'd taken over.

You scattered three question marks over your reply, I answered all of them concisely. One of them I agreed with.
Answering your questions or even offering an opinion isn’t taking away your ‘rights’. Such drama.
These two lines now are making you sound like a spoilt child, which of course, you might well be, who knows?
Honestly, if what people are writing on Twitter is making you poop, take to Twitter.

You speak of my "relentless defence of the club", but there are issues/subjects where I don't defend the club at all. When I don't have an opinion or where I think the point has already been made then I generally don't say much. You don't notice that though do you?
You accuse me of "yet another one man crusade" and of being "banal". Now I apparently sound like a spoilt child, but you haven't answered why you aren't having a pop at others on this thread who are of the same opinion as me.

I understand perfectly well what you’re debating, I’m questioning why. But remove your patronising, aggressive and repetitive last line questioning as you are getting up my nose and it’s not close to forming part of a debate, you’re basically only arguing and your tone throughout the thread reflects that.
I commented on your opinions. We’ve agreed that’s allowed. For both of us. I don’t have to comment on those of everyone I’m certain of that.
Why or how would I notice when you’re not saying much, is that a real question? Iggy Pope’s just a name I’m not an omnipotent.
I need to be clear. I’m not removing your rights by having an opinion, that was when you were sounding, to me, like an adolescent. That’s my opinion.

this has been said quite a few times on this yourself and PB most recently, tell me what is this place for? If I see something in the EEN should I not comment on the contents on here? it’s a hibs forum where hibs topics are discussed no? If someone see’s a transfer rumour on twitter it’s discussed here so why shouldn’t it be discussed when a section of our fan base throwing the toys out the pram is affecting the clubs twitter account and being directed to players as well?

We're now over 20 hours on from the tweet. Why is this still a thing?
Would it not just be easier and better for all to let it lie and move on? The last 4 or 5 pages are dominated by the same half a dozen posters making the same points over and over again. No one is going to change their mind this far down the line so it has long ceased being a debate. The advice has repeatedly been that people on Twitter need to grow up, maybe that applies here as well. Agree to disagree and move on FFS before yet another thread has to be closed.
Without getting involved in this thread where the opinion is there for all to see.
Why the need to close so many threads when there is a healthy debate going on? It's almost as if certain opinions are being silenced now.

Well, for me the things I like most about Hibs.net are the exchange of information of all things Hibs. No matter if it’s team lines, transfer talk, gossip, tickets, bus and train times, how to get to Slovenia or the cut of Jack Ross’ troosers.
I really don’t think it’s a place to discuss, and at humongous length, what’s being said by individuals on Twitter. I think Twitter is the place for that, particularly if the strength of feeling felt by the actions of these folks is as vociferous as that being played on here, going by some of the name calling.
I’ve seen a few of the Twitter comments and I know at least two of the participants post regularly on here and they don’t appear to be part of this so called debate.
Individuals on Twitter aren’t really a section of our fan base. They are individuals representing themselves. If I replied to them on Twitter I wouldn’t be representing Hibs or indeed Hibs.net. I’d be speaking for myself. I’m not sure our fan base has any sections at all since the demise of the Away Season Ticket and the Singing Section. HSL might be considered one mind you. Hibs.net certainly isn’t a section to me as our thoughts and opinions are clearly diverse. Neither are a few reactive sorts on Twitter, they’re a shower of punters with the right to say what they feel within the laws of decency like everyone else.

Especially when Hibs opted not to have a sponsor for two seasons. How much did that cost the club?

Normally, when the club teases a signing you’ll get a 🖊 or 📝 along side whatever message they’ve written this wasn’t the case, a sponsorship announcement might not be the biggest news for us as fans but for the club it is and should be treated as such for the benefit of the company investing the money as well as the club.

But it's a real shame. After the teaser was published yesterday morning there was some good craic on here on 2-3 different threads about what the news was going to be. All of it was good humoured and there was no hint that the announcement of a sponsor (which I think a couple of people suggested) was going to be a major let down. It's as if any trace of mystery or humour has to be removed from official tweets in case it offends the over sensitive haters.
Another thing that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is the club tweets in the build up to the final - showing the players getting dolled up, arriving at Hampden, checking the pitch, etc.
I thought they were spot on.

A section of fan base was probably a poor choice of word, il go with a shower of punters instead your probably closer to it than I was.
A shower of punters once stood and told everyone who would listen that HSL was a Ponzi scheme for STF and petrie to line their pockets it hampered the take up of HSL hugely so much so they failed in their target before STF sold up to Ron.
We now have a shower of punters chucking abuse at Martin Boyle winning player of the year the week after a cup final we lost, a player judging by this season we’d be worse off if he decided to up and leave, these shower of punters could be the difference between Boyle staying with us to Jan for example or jumping at the first offer that comes, the manager wants to sign jackson Irvine there’s a shower of punters chucking abuse at him after he scored for Australia midweek again could be the difference between signing on and not.
What I’m trying to get at is the actions of a shower of punters on twitter could hamper the progress of the club and managers plans so should be worthy of lengthy debate on here IMO without threats of thread closures

Tbh. I can’t recall the social media pre the final - unfortunately the result will have put that into a zone that no one will care about ..
We’ve been largely excellent on social media for a good number of years .. we’ve obviously got a someone temporarily in while they fill the roles that are available ..and it shows..doesn’t have the smarts and connection with the fan base that we’ve traditionally had in recent seasons

What healthy threads have been closed? A thread is shut when there's a duplicate, it has descended into personal insults that can't be reasonably managed, or it has been taken way off topic - sometimes it's a combination of these things.
If you really think an eclectic mix of volunteers from a range of age groups, locations, and sociopolitical backgrounds are carrying some kind of unified agenda against certain viewpoints on a football forum, then I'm not sure what to say.

Hibs social media output might have been slightly better in the past, but it's nowhere near as bad as some are making out and it certainly doesn't merit the level of abuse that it gets in the replies. The nasty names are because, simply put, these people disgust me.
I'm flattered that you're so interested in my writing "style". A lot of those things you are citing also happened on here you know. Twitter doesn’t have exclusive rights to people that question Hibs, no matter the agenda.
And if Hibs really didn’t want chat on Twitter good or bad then I don’t think Tweeting is the thing for them.

Why not do tease tweets for the HSL donations then? They are important to club and the fans. HSL donations at their current level would amount to a reasonable six figure sum over 12 months.
Why not drum rolls and constant long drawn out reveals for ST renewal numbers? I mean our renewals will amount to more cash than this sponsorship deal.
Funny thing is I couldn't give a toss about our sponsor, even more so after the tweets. It shows the dark side to social media and marketing done on the platform. This was clearly a fishing exercise to increase interest in the eventual tweet. Like most social media attention, doesn't seem like it mattered whether it was good or bad attention.
The abusive tweets, the arguments on here show me that it probably wasn't worth it. Time will tell because covid obviously impacted club plans but, for me, club interaction with fans has gone backwards. All been about securing sponsors, which is clearly important but so are fans, especially when they've paid for STs but never been to ER. Involving said fans in fishing exercise to please new sponsor isn't great on early bird deadline day.

There not catering for you or me separately they are attempting to please a support base as a whole, you don’t care about sponsors I don’t particularly care about murder mystery nights but some people do.
HSL is a separate entity with a separate twitter account so hibs don’t do the teasing for them, they aren’t teasing the release of season tickets because what kind of a tease can they do when the object is to take your money....drum roll please we’ll be ready to take your cash at 2pm.. it’s silly
There was some supporters rightly or wrongly unhappy with what hibs done with the front of shirt space the last 2 seasons some had it down as a cover up because they couldn’t find a sponsor, some other fans would be unhappy if we had bookies or alcohol companies on our shirts the club has sorted all that and probably thought some people at least would be happy and the ones who don’t particularly care wouldn’t mind a little fan fare to introduce the company and maybe pat the guys involved on the back a little for securing some much needed cash I.e gregg mcewan who is quite happy with himself on twitter getting this over the line.

A lot of those things you are citing also happened on here you know. Twitter doesn’t have exclusive rights to people that question Hibs, no matter the agenda.
And if Hibs really didn’t want chat on Twitter good or bad then I don’t think Tweeting is the thing for them.

The object of this tweet was to promote sponsor who would like to take Hibs fans money...
Battered unfairly? Apart from the small scale abuse on twitter, where is this battering occurring?
Don't know the guy but ofcourse Greg McEwan would be patting himself on the back. He's interim CEO probably looking to secure the job and salary full time. Is he being battered online? Seen a lot of "well done" and "fantastic stuff".

Where have club been battered? Abuse on twitter from very small number of fans? That happens almost for anything Hibs do as unfortunately, and fortunately, people are different and want different things. Nobody is condoning the abuse. I'm saying I think fishing to promote sponsor on early bird deadline day while we are still unsure whether we'll be back in stadiums is of poor taste.

They obviously wanted to reveal the sponsor now to give them 5 minutes in the spotlight, on their own, before the impending kit release.
The fact it was a couple of hours before the early bird deadline is neither here nor there IMO. Even the most optimistic among us wouldn't expect a sponsorship announcement to boost ST sales.

For me Hibs are teasing to announce something that should already have been there previously but just announcing a change of sponsor. Why was there no sponsor the previous two seasons?

Out of interest, had someone tweeted "I think you are losing the plot" to the Hibs social media person would that be perceived as abuse or battering Hibs? Just curious.
Tweet about the sponsor. Fine, I think we can agree it would have been recieved, at large, as being positive. The "news at 2pm" was in poor taste on early bird renewal deadline day, in my opinion. It got hopes up. As I said, it's probably marketing 101 but marketing during covid is even closer to that fine line between good and bad. People are still concerned about jobs and money.
First tweet was fishing for interest. They got good and bad nibbles and I think they knew that would happen. What I can't fully understand is why other people don't get that. People are different.
I renewed my ST after the tweet. It didn't bother me so much as not to support Hibs, if I could. However, I'm aware life isn't monochrome and people may have had an awful Friday, that tweet gave them a glimmer of hope and it was ultimately a huge disappointment.

Maybe, maybe not.
I am fairly confident Hibs knew this would have this mixed reaction. I have no issue with tweet revealing the sponsor. The teaser tweet I do have some slight issue with though. Merely because, whether you think them stupid, a lesser being, or otherwise, there are Hibs fans that would have thought the 2pm announcement would be a signing. That could be a huge disappointment for them dependent on their own situation, during covid, having a bad week, bad Friday or otherwise. Ffs we all type nonsense on here and get into silly arguments because we care about Hibs. Hibs are an escape for people, probably more than ever due to covid.
Covid is still here, we are entering another wave and we may not be back at ER again. What we see on our screens is virtually all we know of Hibs now. What club tweet on early bird deadline day is more significant than normal due to this, in my opinion.
I renewed anyway, I'm just saying I thought teaser tweet was poor taste.

I think the point some folk are tying to make is that there shouldn't have been a need for anyone to jump to any conclusions. Just tweet that Utilita are our new sponsors, no need for any preamble. Utilita still get the exposure to the 90 odd thousand followers on Hibs Twitter so jobs a good'un

Well, they are a football club that tweeted a teaser of good news. And yes, most would agree what has been delivered is good news. However, we are a football club so I think people should be forgiven for thinking the news may have been something other than what it ended up being. Conclusions are only wrong when the reveal happens.
I’m getting the sense that the theme at the moment is nothing Hibs do smells. Not even a whiff of anything non-fragrant. Fine. If people are not being abusive though, it would be nice if some weren’t seen as some sort of attacker against Hibs. A rotten apple. A wrong ‘un. A simpleton. A wholly negative person who should seek help and not plague a fans forum with their opinion.
If I think something is in poor taste it doesn’t mean I blame anybody. I can think something was a mistake without seeking blood. Based on your response, it looks like you thought I blamed someone, blamed Hibs. I didn’t, think you’ve jumped to a wrong conclusion there.

Teaser tweet meant to get fans interested in news that largely doesn’t interest fans of football. Just reveal the sponsor and be done with it. Don’t do the suspense and reveal of something that, to many, will be insignificant. We may not be at ER after summer and are buying STs still. Poor taste to tease fans in this way unnecessarily. Guess there’s publicity over the in-fighting on here and abuse on Twitter but is that really worth it? Are sponsors going to chuck extra money Hibs way for a popcorn moment?

Both your original post and my reply were referring to those who assumed the first tweet was about a signing. Neither of us mentions you as being in that number, so I don't see how you could leap to the conclusion that it was about you.

I agree faceless people handing out abuse on Twitter and on here are a sad indictment on society. I haven’t said otherwise.
You’ve seen me display my dislike of the teaser tweet on here and seen what I hoped would be a reasonable debate descend into arguments. You can think that both the recent twitter output is poor and that the folk who have given the twitter admin abuse are out of line. These positions are not mutually exclusive.
I can also accept that some people are happy and enjoy the current social media output by the club in the same way that I can accept there must be a sizeable amount of people who enjoy Mrs Brown’s Boys enough for the BBC to keep commissioning it.
It’s also acceptable for people to praise/criticise the performance of employees of the club in a civilised manner on a Hibs forum. As mentioned above, you can disagree with this praise/criticism, however it doesn’t make others viewpoints invalid.

The threads around the European Travel info are extremely helpful on here and the Bounce.
As well as (whisper it) fan groups on Twitter and Facebook.

Deleted a couple of posts there, don’t think this is the place to be naming and shaming Twitter accounts, particularly if they circumvent the swear filter to do so.

A welcome addition, hopefully he can improve an area of the club that many highlighted as having been found lacking in recent months.
