Good interview. Admitted we were poor last week and simply didn’t turn up. However after the game he wanted to protect the players

Player of the season? Difficult one that, players have had purple patches but cant think of a player who has played well the entire season.

Young player of the year to Josh.

If it's anyone other than Boyle I'll be very surprised.

Dont think Boyler has been that consistent either to be honest. A good few games he disappeared or had the face several defenders marking him. A well known SPL theory, you stop Boyler you stop Hibs and it worked numerous times. We are more than that but thats an opinion held by many.

Josh Doig was a no brainer for young player. POTY was a harder choice but Doidge got my vote.

However after the game he wanted to protect the players Unless he wants people to think he's being foolish, then he has to admit they were poor - everyone could see they were poor with their own eyes! Also - what does " protecting the players " actually mean ?

Presumably the opposite of what posters on here criticise managers over “throwing the players under a bus”.:greengrin

But the engraving on the award says
"Supports of Hibernian FC"

Goal of the season coming up. Gogic's was a peach but Doidge at Aberdeen was a level above for me.

Hibs Twitter has been awful recently - what is going on?

They do know we have 91,000 followers! Content at times is awful.

Think it’s a new admin who does the twitter account now. The guy doesn’t have a clue what’s he’s doing.

Great to see Paul get so many votes, definitely Mr Reliable, but you're right, that is one hell of a schoolboy error.

Our fourth award of the night is the Players' Player of the Year, sponsored by Environmental Waste Controls 🌿

This was closely fought vote between John McGinn and Martin Boyle... but it's @MartinBoyle9 who prevails! 🇦🇺

1️⃣5️⃣ goals for Martin in an outstanding season! 👊

For me it was a toss up between Paul Hanlon, Christian Doidge and Martin Boyle. Glad Boyler won it as he provides a lot of entertaining football but it was a close call between the trio mentioned imo.

You cold probably add another 2 or 3 to that mix but I like to give the edge to the attackers unless it's clear cut.

Not paid much attention to awards in the past , was that always a category ?
Who normally voted for it ?
Probably just trying to feel like they are giving something to the fans.
No doubt when the fans get back into Easter Road will be the moment of the year / next season

I'll predict now he'll be the POTY next year :aok: The boy's had a season to forget but hopefully can put his injury behind him and kick on. Our future captain I'm sure of that.

I think someone else mentioned it but he didn’t want to throw them under the bus like some managers would have. He’s built up a strong bond between coaches and players and wants to protect that by them knowing he’s got their backs.

I think there’s been enough threads over the last week debating his post match comments etc. Only giving his reasons tonight why he wasn’t a bit more critical straight after the game

I do think " protecting " is maybe the wrong word to use but I also get that it`s a bit of a football cliche. I have not had a go at him or the team on here since the final, but like every other Hibs supporter I`m still a bit " raw ".

I don’t want to have another dig at Jack but I just wonder if he’s as ‘protecting’ in private as he’s been after the 2 semi defeats. Did the players need criticised in public to give them that extra motivation, we’ll never know now🤷🏼
