I heard a rumour they were after him. I wonder what sort of money he will be on. Would it be more than he was getting from Rangers?

Seems to be getting a lot of praise from people within the game.

Not fair to label everyone of that mould as another Cathro but without knowing the guy that would be my fear if I was a Dundee Utd fan.

Brave appointment though, good to see new people getting the chance.

Still a big step down from being Hibs kitman to Dundee Utd. manager.

Can't be that much though. Why would Ferguson go to Alloa if it wasn't for more money. Certainly wouldn't be going to take a wage cut.

Maybe jumping a few rungs of the ladder?

You're basing that claim on what exactly?

Got a pal who was playing in the same league as them the past few years for another team.

You aren’t affording players like Kallum Higginbotham, Dylan Easton, Nathan Austin etc at that level if you aren’t chucking money at them.

Dundee United fans aren't happy. Especially with the Director of Football's son getting a first team coaching role.

I know a Kelty coach, and Barry Ferguson was putting his own money in to sign players. They will have been spending a comparative fortune.

Bit of luck he transferred all his assets to his wife before Hector caught up with him.

Good luck to the guy. Follow him on Twitter and he’s obviously passionate about coaching. Could be a good move for him if Kelty are ambitious to climb the leagues.

Seems that the Lowland league are refusing to take Brechin City following their relegation. I wonder if this will impact Kelty’s promotion?

Think Brechin wanted to go into Lowland league, rather than Highland league
Should have no bearing on Kelty gaining promotion

I guess this is down to geography. In England we have Gloucester City playing in the Conference North for instance, there's no way you could consider Gloucester North but with regionally split leagues these anomolies occur.

You can understand Lowland teams not relishing a trip up to Brechin based on cost etc.

Happy with the route up the way for their member clubs but not happy to take the team coming down. It is a bit amateurish.

Is it THAT bad an extra cost - a bit more fuel required to get to a couple of games per season per team? Then a wee bit longer on the bus / in the car.

Well I think if you had a blank sheet and were planning a Lowland league and a Highland league you wouldnt put Brechin in the Lowland League would you?

Then a wee bit longer on the bus / in the car.I think I read that it was because most of their players already had to travel North to Brechin and the distances involved for some matches in the Highlands were pretty much out of the question for part time players. They've spent years playing most of their games in the lowland league area.

Without getting the map out, I think Brechin is closer by road to more Lowland teams than Highland.

Are Brechin making a choice or just replacing the team going up?

maybe but it would seem Lowland League teams disagree.

Are Brechin making a choice or just replacing the team going up?Brechin are being forced into the Highland League.

"The rules of the tier 5 leagues state that Scottish clubs situated below Dundee will enter the Lowland League and clubs, like Brechin City, positioned above the cut-off will enter the Highland League."

They've spent years playing most of their games in the lowland league area. Not sure if that was the reason but they were making a lot of noise last year about trying to ensure Lowland League regardless of who won. With Kelty going up, the LL was obvious but I think their behaviour last year attempting to bully the LL into an agreement obviously put noses out.

No, he had decent advice and transferred his assets to his wife several years ago so that the taxman couldn't grab them.

And rightfully so. The fact that they even think they should be allowed in to the Lowland League is laughable. From next season there’s a feeder league below the Highland League made up of Dundee/Angus ex juniors too
