Well folks, it’s five years on from that glorious day in May (give or take a few hours). The best day of your hibs supporting life’s? It certainly was mine, definitely a story for the grandkids grandkids. Roll on Saturday!

Five years already! It feels like yesterday. Hopefully 22/05/21 can be added to history for the same reason.

Just imagine how much fun we’d have celebrating on the 21st and 22nd May each year? How good would that be? 💚💚

I didn’t take many pictures on the day, but on my Facebook Memories this morning a picture of me and Sam Martinez pre match popped up. What a story his was, and at 106 years old he was finally there to see it happen. Sam’s no longer here, as are many others who won’t be with us to share the cup final experience this time around, but we can be thankful that they saw 2016.
Seeing the picture today made me smile and cheered up what is a miserable wet and windy Friday morning.

This Is The One is excellent but Hibs Scottish Cup Fairytale is a guarantee that Scotland will never run short of water so long as Hibernian fans are alive to watch it. That is full-on tears and snotters.

For me it seemed like it all happened in slow motion when the corner came over Gray goes for the header and the back of the net bulges.

When you hear the commentary how could there have been anything other than a goal?

Even watching it back it’s like slow motion. Not like any other goal
Without doubt the best sporting day of my life. The high of the early goal to the lows of throwing it away again to the ultimate high and all the emotions that go with it. A day I will never forget and will always bring a tear to my eye.

The match itself and even David Gray's goal is all a bit of a blur now but one thing i vividly remember is looking up at the sky at the few clouds passing over Hampden and just praying to whatever might be up there that we'd hold on for those few moments after the goal. That moment will stay with me until my dying day.

Out of interest, do people still have a clear memory of Gray heading the ball home from the perspective where they were stood at Hampden? I just about do, it quite literally is my most cherished memory, and it makes me smile like an idiot every time it flashes across my mind

I remember it, however I didn't know who scored it for a good couple of minutes!
I remember initially being raging at Keatings for not throwing a leg out after Stokes' shot was saved, that led to that glorious corner!

Yep, same here hahaha. I also remember saying “same as the last corner” to my dad and brother next to me as Henderson went over to take it, didn’t actually think it would work!

I don't really – I remember the other goals and lots of other details of the game very vividly, but when I 'remember' the winner it's not my memory at all, it's reconstructed from tv angles etc. It's not that it's faded over time, even immediately afterwards I don't think I'd have been able to describe the flight of the ball, Gray's run or anything without re-watching it on tv.
I do remember the ball hitting the net vividly, and the fraction of a second's pause before bodies started flying everywhere.

I rememeber the winning goal in slow motion. Mental.

5 years is mental.
I remember running up the stairs to the loo just as they announced the added on time as I was convinced it was going to ET and it was eerily quiet in the toilets but I did see Stuart Lovell when washing my hands and he almost sort of looked at me in disbelief as if to say 'what are you doing in here?' I then swiftly jogged down the stairs and stood on the steps and watched the corner from the middle of the steps as I wasn't getting back to my seat in time. My next memory is some big guy almost rugby tackling me on the steps then telling me he wished his father was here to see it and he burst into tears then I rejoined my group for the rest.
Remember it clear as day.
It'll never be topped.

I thought the second was an OG because of the angle and the way Tavernier jumped.

Best day of my life.
Yes I am 41, married and I have kids. Wedding day and birth of children were great days, but I knew they were coming.
I was on such a ‘Hibs downer’ on the day of the final that I never expected anything than the usual hampden doing.
What happened was magical and long overdue.
Totally unexpected.

Memory of SDG header is still clear as day but a bit weird. When the ball hit the net, it was like a firework going off, with Hibs players running in all directions. It was bedlam with Keatings heading towards the North Stand, most of the rest heading South. Must have been shock and disbelief, but that's what popped into my head

I was at the back of the east stand and it looked more like it was bundled in at the front post. I'd had a fair few pints and the view at Hampden can be pretty bad to be fair

I always remember when the ball was picked up in midfield before it was played wide to Stokes to flash across the face - there was an overwhelming feeling of something special is about to happen here. You could feel it round the stadium. A lifetime of ups and downs with Hibs all leading to that unbelievable moment.

I list the flight of the ball from the corner and seen it again popping through a few players and the back of the net bursting. The five or ten minutes after that is a blur.

There's a lad at the front of the support on the right in that clip when the players are up hugging the fans who looks a hell of a lot like Bradley Welsh.

Best weekend of my life. In football terms nothing will ever top it. Hibs will win other trophies in my lifetime, hopefully starting tomorrow, but that one will always be that bit more special.
I felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders that day. I had always said the Scottish Cup hoodoo didn't bother me that much but subconsciously it was a huge burden, same for many of us I suppose. For months afterwards I felt like I was walking on air. I was happier and more easy going that I have ever been. I'm actually a bit melancholy that I will never feel that pure high again. The sight of the Scottish Cup being brought out ready to be presented with the green and white ribbons on it is my abiding memory of the day, it was a moment 4 generations of my family in the making.

My memories of the big moments on the pitch are now from YouTube as I've seen them so many times.
My personal memories from the match are speaking to family members when shouting/screaming/celebrating with a few comments sticking in my head [emoji16]

I remember it clear as day, was in line with the corner flag at the opposite side from where hendo took the corner. Had a feeling all game we were going to do it and I'm not usually very confident!
Can still close my eyes and see the net rippling, cue bedlam and rolling about on the floor with my 2 best pals who had been through the same hampden torture as me over the years.
Probably helped that I didn't touch a drop of alcohol all day as I wanted to remember everything, made up for it at the parade on the Sunday.
