Anyone looking for a Subbuteo Hibs team, the Bethany Shop on Leith walk has a set for £30. Expensive but if looking for that 80s vintage, it’s there. :flag:

My mum and dad are moving out the childhood home, so they’ve been giving all our stuff back to us before moving on.
Last weekend I was delighted to be given bits and bobs of my old subbuteo stuff, thought it was long gone.
The Hibs team is pristine, along with the £2.75 John Menzies price tag on it.

Still got all my gear and got back into it about ten years ago. Great game. And my ref 45 Hibs team is pristine also. Probably dates from around 1975.

I've actually been thinking about it again recently because it is so much better and more skilful than FIFA on the consoles of which I can’t be bothered with.

I ended up playing with a Hibs/Scotland select due to serious injuries (players stood on, mostly).

You should go for it. There’s a lot of quality original stuff on eBay if you need to fill any gaps. There is also a big new market for stuff like pitches, different style bases etc. I’ve done a bit of experimenting with the new gear and have painted quite a few of my own teams. A very enjoyable pastime. And there are a few clubs about - one of which I was about to join just before COVID arrived 🙄

The modern era, like post 80's subbuteo pitches are synthetic gash. The older cotton ones played much better and didn't get bobbles in them.
My pals and I got right into in our 20's. Used a 6x3 snooker table with the pitch laid out on that. Had to make them take their shoes off, as we were starting to see wear on the carpet where we stood behind the goals, lol.
I've still got my Hibs and Brazil teams from that era. They had heavier bases than the ones from the 80's. Much more satisfying.

There's a group you might like on Facebook. It's called Model Dioramas, Layouts and Scenes in Miniature.
Some of the stuff there is amazing. And makes me wish I had talent!
