I’m assuming most places in Leith will be booked up already, but does anyone know of any pubs/venues in Edinburgh that are still taking bookings?

I would imagine that the Gorgie pubs will be quite quiet. 😃

But what happens if extra time takes you beyond the 2 hour slot? Or is the 2 hour slot just level 3?

You could try Teviot Row House (Edinburgh Uni Student Assocation, you don't need to be a student or sign-in or anything). It has some tvs in the garden but if you check they might have now opened up Sports Bar inside. That has a giant screen.

Level 3 is no alcohol indoors, there's no 2 hour limit in place.

Level 2 is where the 2 hour limit applies but it's only guidance, not legally enforceable, so pubs do not need to apply it. It seems quite a lot are though but I'm assuming people are just booking multiple slots under different names.

Just the library bar just now, the garden is open but the tvs just show uni adverts I believe

I was in the garden when the FA Cup final was on. Showed it but no sound.

Used to work there so one of my best mates is one of the mamagers he said he thought Sports was meant to be opening but also a lot of staff, managers included, forget ti out games on.

But get there early and speak to them and it would be on in the garden at least.

I would be surprised if every Saturday there wasn't booked for weeks in advance.

That's good to know ta .I've just seen the advert things when I've been in. Most of the bar and catering staff are furloughed. Majority of the cafes won't open until September and bar at kb, not sure when sports bar will open. They are pretty strict on bookings though and always almost fully booked at weekends just about

I've spoken to a couple of bars and they've not even been sure if they can show the footy with sound up as they have had no guidance??

There is definitely guidance in place. The sound is allowed to be switched on although if you persistently shout during the match it may end up being switched off and the Police should be called if there's any disorder.

High profile sports matches should not be marketed as events in hospitality and any sound on the TV must be risk assessed.

Live sport broadcasts on TV

You can turn the sound on for live sport broadcasts on TV, but it must be risk assessed in the same way as music and must be the only source of background sound in the same general space when on i.e. music must be turned off if the TV audio is on in the same area. It remains the case however that high profile sporting occasions should not be marketed as events in hospitality i.e. key football or rugby matches etc. Experience shows us that these are high risk environments that once commenced are difficult to break up without disorder so must be avoided in the first instance.

If customers start singing along to music or shouting in response to TV broadcasts of e.g. sport

Clear customer information is key to managing these situations. Premises should use communication resources throughout the premises to remind customers that singing and shouting is not permitted. Staff should be mindful of early signs of this developing and where this does occur should intervene quickly to give advice and remind customers of the required standards of behaviour. If it persists then background sound and or TV broadcasts should be turned off/halted. In the event of disorder call Police Scotland who will attend.

The 2 hour guideline is only for inside in Level 2 at present. It isn’t mentioned anywhere else. It’s also just a guideline, not enforceable. Most venues seem to be using inside, outside and in any tier.

There's no 2 hour guidance for hospitality in level 3 areas, it's only in level 2 areas and only indoors.

Yet somebody trying to say the opposite.
I know you are in the trade - also that I am currently in the pub and have been since 5.30, and have confirmation from the pub I've booked for Sat, that booking two slots isnt a problem.

Anyone know of any pubs in Edinburgh that have space and would likely be a decent place for a couple of us to watch the game?

Markos pool hall has been advertised on social media to book along with pictures of the pitch invasion in 2016, looks decent.

Not exactly the right end of town, but The Haymarket Bar has reopened and is apparently looking to have more of an emphasis on showing sports - there will be 8 screens, the final will be on. It was suggested to me on Monday night but we're already sorted.

You'd have thought so, I was planning on going to the Prison Officers club on McLeod Street as they were operating on a first come/first serve basis, just been told they've had more than a few folk book tables so I'm now going to the Graysmill instead.
