I suffer from being painfully superstitious.
I know it's pointless and what I do has no bearing on the fortunes of our team, but I find myself having to consider everything I do, just in case. It probably borders on OCD, but it really only kicks in when something is very important to me and that's usually just Hibs.
It's ridiculous. I have to wear the right clothes, use the right mug for my coffee, and there are now threads on the board that I can't read! :hilarious
It even affects the way that I behave because I'm scared fate will go against me if I do something wrong!
For example, I have a 2016 Cup Final mug with the picture of SDG on it. I can't use that mug on the day before or the actual day of a game and now, I won't be able to use it at all this week.
Even though I am fully aware of how absurd the notion is, I can't bring myself just to use it to break the superstition.
I can't be the only daft sod who behaves like this, can I?

Are you putting them back on or have you kept them on?

Superstition is perfectly natural, though some are more predisposed than others. Humans have a need to control their environment and superstition gives us a feeling that we're in control of situations in reality we have no bearing on at all, such as the outcome of a football match.

I never bother with any of that pish. I was wearing the same green fleece and tartan scarf at the 2012, 2013 and 2016 finals. :greengrin
The good news is if we get beat, we can blame Radge for drinking his coffee the wrong way round. :grr::aok:

After the 2016 final I retired my top and scarf. Buy a new scarf every year now. Regardless of the weather I never wear my sunglasses at Hampden during the game. We lost any time I wore them. I forgot to buy a programne 2016 too. Not ordering this one just in case But I'm not in any way superstitious...

I used to think that if I joined in a Hibs song at the match, I had to sing it all, even if everyone else had stopped! I didn't half get some funny looks when I was singing the last lines of one song when the rest of the support had started a new one!
Fortunately, I've stopped that particular habit.

I wish you hadn't mentioned the programme. I was going to get one this time cos I missed out in 2016.
Not now!

I’ve exhausted all superstition over the years, but eschewed all in 2016 which highlights the ridiculousness of it all.
That said, I’ll be going to my friends to watch the Final after viewing the semi there and will be making a point of keeping the same seating arrangements.

I jokingly kept the contact lenses I wore for the final in 2016 as they had seen some **** :hilarious
Stuck them in a soap lid and stuck them away out the way in the bathroom and then forgot about them.
Found them the other day and hesitated before chucking them out wondering if I should soak them in contact lens solution and wear them again on Saturday :greengrin

Lucky t-shirt/pants/socks combo is decaying rapidly and has probably witnessed as many defeats as wins.
It's not about having proof of luck, but if there's any one occasion when Hibs lose and you haven't carried out of usual due diligence then it's irredeemable proof that you just can't afford not to.
I no longer contribute to pre match or match day threads after a good number of winning streaks came to an unexpected and surprising end.

I will be wearing my green cup final jacket...(imported from Germany 2012)...After 2012 and 2013, I nearly gave up on it for 2016 but persevered and it paid off...hopefully the magic will work again on Saturday....!

I have to confess that for the 2016 final, I broke every superstition rule I had. I decided to wear my unlucky Hibs top, my unlucky Hibs jacket. Gosh, even my unlucky pants. We all know what happened after that? Yes, I went back to put on a pair of trousers!!
If you believe in Omens, that's Leicester City winning a major trophy, Kilmarnock playing in a Premier League Play-off and The Rangers winning a League Title. Oh, and Hibs had a McGinn in their team.

My dad and I used to have a lucky Pizza Hut to go to before games at Hampden. From the Aberdeen semifinal in 2000 on, we'd go to one of the two Pizza Huts near Queen St for food before walking down to Central to get the train out to Hampden. After the final vs Celtic in 2001, we noticed that we'd gone to the same one for both defeats (Aberdeen and Celtic) and the other for the victory (semi vs Livi). From then on, the second one was the lucky Pizza Hut and we wouldn't dare frequent the first.
Years later when I lived in Glasgow I realised there was only one Pizza Hut in that vicinity, we were just approaching it from two different directions (along Sauchiehall St or down Buchanan St before looping round). So while the effect was obviously (obviously!) real, it must have been purely psychological.

As an adult i've only had two Hibs tops. Had one in 2007 and 2016. Both times we've won the cup. I'm buying this seasons one this week as it's clearly this that results in us winning silverware.

Nope. I bought 2 mugs with the Hibs titles and runners up dates on them after the 2007 Cup final. It's only now after 14 years and the dishwasher making them unreadable that I can safely put them to use near match day.

Not at all… I tend to be reluctant to do certain things, say certain things wear certain things around game days. Also never bet on or against hibs.
There are a lot of superstitious people in the football world….. some players even have certain rituals pre match during a match and even after a match… like praising the heavens when they score.

Here in fuerteventura a hibs supporting friend has a bar in another resort but everytime I travel there to watch a game we get beat, I watched the semi in a bar next to where I stay and superstition dictates I have to go back for the final 🤣🤣🇳🇬

When I was a regular attender, I'd only ever wash my scarf after a loss. Not every loss (it would have been practically sterile) but never after a win or a draw in any case.

I've got a "lucky" Hibs hat from the 1972 league cup final. Been at every cup final and semi since.
Will it be at our gathering this weekend? Yes it will. Is it lucky? All about how you define lucky, we are fortunate, even blessed to be Hibbies.

I watched the 2016 final at home with my brother and his son. I'm watching this one at home with my brother and his son. We drank beer during the game in 2016 and will drink beer on Saturday. I think that's as far as I can push it

Not sure I can recreate my routine from the 2016 final. It involved a late afternoon flight from Stansted on the Friday, so I'd arranged lunch with a mate (Celtc supporting sadly) who lives in Saffron Walden. A relaxing lunch at the Fighting Cocks, Wendens Ambo (it's closed for refurbishment at the moment) then to the airport and a couple of stiff ones before the flight. Then a tram to Haymarket and a walk over to the old man's. Next day we got the train (via Bathgate - don't ask why) and brunch at All Bar One Buchanan Street (eggs benedict and a pint). Train to Kings Park...
Instead I'll be in the Willoughby Arms in Kingston, just hoping the break with routine is not significant (as it's my birthday I will only be wanting one present).

A drive to Flotterstone and walk to clear the mind and that'll be me ready for the game. Working on the day and will be at Easter Road at full time even though the players (and cup ) won't be :worried:

Not for me. Saturday now has me thinking we should have worn our away strip. Anything to help change the rut we were in against St Johnstone haha.
