Probably a bit of a risk in terms of marketing tbh. If we were to get beat in the final it would probably sell significantly less as it would always be associated with that game. Of course, the opposite could also be said!

In any case, we will have a different manufacturer next season so will be contracted to wearing Macron for the final

Joma and as we've seen with Macron will make bespoke kits for us, whereas the bigger brands will be templates.

Somebody shared an Umbro kit the other day which was white top/green sleeves with Umbro all over the sleeves, which would have looked awesome with harp/ship/castle designs instead.

IMO aside from the obvious iconic cup winning kit, 3 of the 4 nike kits we had were ****ing awful. Even the purple away top 15/16 was a template of left over Man City kits from about 2 years before.

We were told the new chief executive would be in place by the end of the season. They didn’t know at that point we’d qualify for the Cup Final so I reckon they’ve got about 24 hours to tell us about that or I’m going radge.

I was just about to ask this, given we keep being told adidas would just be a template design but it seems the majority of teams just get an existing template with macron but in their colours, so what is the difference between a Macron template kit and an Adidas?

With adidas, would we only get stock colour whereas Macron we get to give the specific colour, add bits onto the template?

It’s as bespoke as we want to make it. You clearly can’t create your own weird collar design but they offer about 20 of them that can be mixed with any variation of patterns, and colours.

Agree, which is what I’m saying. You put together a kit based on all the elements of designs they have.

Never understood why people get so hung up on our strip being bespoke. If a kit is rank its rank, and the fact its "bespoke " wouldn't make it any better.

Having green shirts, white sleeves and a Hibs badge makes it unique anyway.

I was a bit underwhelmed when the rumours started about Joma but having had a look at the kits they have produced for some of the teams currently contracted to them, im excited to see what the produce.

When I coached my laddies team we had to use Joma kit as the whole club used it. Really good quality and the designs were pretty good too. No point prejudging what they will look like and the only brand that matters on the kits is the Hibernian FC one as far as I am concerned.

It’s a brand thing. It doesn’t really matter what the design is like if the perception of the brand associated with it is poor.

As I said I’m not really arsed as I’d never buy it anyway but I get where the posters criticism is coming from, even if I don’t necessarily agree with it.

I would never buy Lonsdale trainers as I associate them as being absolute shanners, even if the design was identical to a pair of Nike trainers I’ve just got just a different logo.

It's a football kit for playing football in not a contender for the catwalks in Milan and Paris.

Hibs aren't some worldwide brand that sells strips and leisurewear across the world. The people who always buy the strip will still buy it, those who don't won't. It's all about the commercial deal for Hibs, year on year the variation in shirt sales will be minimal and largely influenced by results on the park and the engagement that brings about.

You're right. Truth of the matter is if we stuck an adidas logo and three stripes on a green and white kit it would be one of our biggest selling. Joma has a perception of being a sunday league kit supplier. I'm not saying that's the right way to think but that's what the perception is.

When there's only so much you can change about a green and white kit from year to year, things like manufacturer, sponsor etc do make a difference to consumers. Especially when it costs in the region of £40 to purchase

You're right. Truth of the matter is if we stuck an adidas logo and three stripes on a green and white kit it would be one of our biggest selling. Joma has a perception of being a sunday league kit supplier. I'm not saying that's the right way to think but that's what the perception is.

When there's only so much you can change about a green and white kit from year to year, things like manufacturer, sponsor etc do make a difference to consumers. Especially when it costs in the region of £40 to purchase

Where do the likes of Bukta and Mitre sit in people’s perception of kit makers? Probably not very high I’d imagine but if you ran a poll now of fans favourite tops of the last 30 years, a few of the Mitre and Bukta tops we had would occupy high positions while the tops by “bigger” brands like Nike (cup final top aside) and Puma wouldn’t be close.

It’s a brand thing. It doesn’t really matter what the design is like if the perception of the brand associated with it is poor.

As I said I’m not really arsed as I’d never buy it anyway but I get where the posters criticism is coming from, even if I don’t necessarily agree with it.

I would never buy Lonsdale trainers as I associate them as being absolute shanners, even if the design was identical to a pair of Nike trainers I’ve just got just a different logo.

No offence to anyone who’s just bought a pair of Lonsdale trainers, they’re actually really smart, I’m just trying to prove a point here.

What do people think of Joma shirt templates?
I think there are some good ones to use for the home -
the Joma gold III for example. (the higher end of their range)
Simple, rounded white collar on emerald green body, white sleeves.
No bottle green , just a very uncomplicated but effective effort?

There's only so much you can do with a green kit and white sleeves though. The kit brand is a key part of what makes a kit 'smart' to a lot of people. I think on the whole people are more likely to part with close to 40 quid for a top if there's a more 'premium' manufacturer. Rightly or wrongly.

There's other things that will affect sales, such as on park performance of course but when there's so little to change with a football team's shirt, the manufacturer's logo plays a big part in whether people think its smart or average. In reality you take brands and logos away and all our kits look the same
