Ross will be going nowhere regardless of the outcome of the final and nor should he be.

3rd or 4th and beaten finalists would leave me feeling disappointed given where we are now. 3rd or 4th and cup winners and it would be the best season in my time as a fan (and I'm not there to see it). Fine margins but that's football.

Just because I could end up disappointed doesn't mean it's been anything but a good season though. Fans are emotive and of course we will feel down if we lose a final. If we are being rational though where we are today and where we sat 18 months ago is night and day.

I accept being rational and being a football fan aren't always easy bedfellows but the point still stands.

That is my prediction for the Final. An emphatic Hibs victory.

Since the semi-final draw this has seemed to me to be set up to produce more Hibs Scottish Cup 'legends', in the mould of Fontaine, Henderson, Stokes, Fyvie, Logan and others. Fontaine just said recently there was such a good feeling in the Hibs squad then. Not just the Cup Final daya, but through out the season. And with Mr. Stubbs and his coaching team it all fell into place.

We still have a few 'old soldiers' playing or in the wings, Stevenson, McGregor, Hanlon and even SDG. And Porto of course.

Doidge, Hallberg, Doig, Nisbet, Gogic, Newell, Irvine, Macey, Murphy, Wright and a couple of others I am sure I have missed. I think I am correct in saying none were with Hibs two years ago, or much more than 2 years. Nor was Jack Ross. Maybe we are seeing the same scenario here.

I wish things had worked out differently for Scott Allan. It is a shame he will not be able to get some minutes in.

I'll be gutted if we don't win, absolutely. That said there's no way I'll consider this season anything bar a success.

If we don't win could it have gone better? Obviously, but Hibs don't have a god given right to win cups just because we're favourites, have a bigger stadium, bigger wage bill and on their day, better players.

Getting to semi finals and finals in every competition, year after year is an achievement for Hibs in my eyes. I'd far rather that than get humped out in the first round we played. Yes it makes the loss more painful as you've got that "what if" but if we're in those positions we'll win one of them, same as 2016 after getting very close a few times in the seasons before.
