With respect to both as potentially difficult opponents my preference due to playing styles would be St Mirren, you?

I can't see many answering St Johnstone, even though it makes no difference as Jack & the boys have lulled them into a false sense of security.

I’m honestly not bothered. Both teams will cause us difficulties and I don’t buy in to St Johnstone having some sort of voodoo hold on us. :greengrin

St Mirren but only because I've friends who support the club so I'd enjoy a head to head between our clubs in a final, not because of any fear of St Johnstone.

I think the fact Ross has managed both adds to the occasion.

St Mirren may also be banned from Europe who h would mean that 3rd gets the Euro gold if they were to win the cup.

This, coupled with St J having our number, means I will be actively shouting on the Paisley lads today

St Mirren, 3 wins out of 3 this season. St Johnstone, 1 win out of 5. Clearly we would prefer to play St Mirren out of the two, but just delighted to be there. Bring on the Saints!

Not really too bothered who we get now. It's a cup final so both teams should be up for it so a hard game either way.

There's a part of me that would really like to beat St Jobnstone in the final though. Just to shut them up.

Would take either but prefer St Mirren, good friend supports them the same way I support Hibs so rooting for them today.

Both teams would be difficult.

St Mirren and the Goodwin effect.
St J going for the cup double could either inspire them or add extra pressure.

I don't really mind as beating Perth saints would make up for the last semi loss but equally losing to them would be so frustrating.

If St Mirren beat us then they have won more Scottish Cups than us !

Part of me thinks I’m desperate for St Mirren because I think we’d definitely beat them but St Johnstone would be very difficult.

The other half thinks it would be typical for me to think like that and lose to St Mirren (especially since we take half their players and coaching staff) and that were due a win against St Johnstone and it would be a good bit of revenge for the boys.

In other words I have no idea, but I do think we always play better against the teams that are a bit more expansive and have a go like St Mirren and Dundee United etc

Show up and perform to our potential and we would spank either of them. St Johnstone though have had our number a bit recently, so St Mirren edge it for me. Either way we should have absolutely nothing to fear.

Taking superstitions and hoodoos out id still rather have St Mirren . St Johnstone will just try and kill the game like they always do , win or lose it will be honking to watch . St Mirren will at least make a game of it

Thought St mirren looked very good against Killie in the quarters. Tough game no matter who we get.

In some ways there might be a psychological advantage to playing St Johnstone as the players will know they'll need to be right up for it, as they've had the better of us in recent games.

Maybe I'm looking to much into it :greengrin Do we know what players St J are missing due to Covid?

Really not fussed. I think St Mirren are probably easier to beat but I firmly believe Hibs are a better side than any of them. Like yesterday what we need is the first goal. That fir me was the bug difference between all the semis. Get in front and we are hard to catch

Good point. And I do believe in the hoodoo. If it gives even a 5% edge it needs to be avoided.

However if we do play St Johnstone I would like to think the defeat at ER would be a shining beacon of what not to do and how not to play them.

Dominate, hunt in packs, defend high and be a bloody nuisance. Then use our pace and width when we have the ball.

Critical we score first at Hampden, regardless of who we play.

Other Saints, pretty strong line up
Who’s missing apart form Parish and May

St Johnstone: Clark, McCart, Kerr, Gordon, Rooney, Booth, McCann, Bryson, Wotherspoon, Kane, Melamed.

Substitutes: Zlamal, Brown, Gilmour, Conway, Middleton, O'Halloran, Ferguson, Robertson.

Strangely, I would say St Johnstone.
We have lost the last two games to them 1-0 with the goals both coming from mistakes.
Cut those mistakes out and you have 0-0.
In both games they have presented very little threat other than at set pieces.
What you have after that is a team that has smothered and rope a doped us which means we have to change our tactics to overcome that.

I reckon you substitute Gogic for Newell in yesterday's team and you have Murphy.
Gogic, Hallberg and Irvine give you maximum midfield power and Murphy and Boyle are your keys to break up and disrupt their tactical lines.
No daft mistakes and you win.

St Mirren are far more unpredictable and far more capable of playing a one off great game. Lots of good and game changing players in their team.
I would prefer to avoid this risk but would still expect us to beat them if we played steadily as we did yesterday.

St Mirren are a more dynamic team and capable of scoring at any time.
This could go either way.
Depends which St Mirren turn up.
Outside scenario- Quanor on the bench looks to have a higher level quality about him. Not fully fit but could come on and win it for them.

You'd reduce our chances of winning the Scottish Cup just to get a little bit of revenge for a loss in the League Cup ? Hard to believe.

I think people, both on here and the media, are going a bit overboard with St Johnstone. They are a decent enough side but the league table clearly shows we are a superior side.

If we turn up and play at the levels we are capable of then we will beat whoever we happen to play.

I think at the start of the season if you had said we'd be in the Cup final waiting on St Johnstone or St Mirren as opponents to join us you would have been rubbing your hands in gleefull anticipation. Its a fantastic opportunity to lift the old cup and one in which we will be rightly favourites to win despite St Johnstone having our card marked in recent times. Im confident on the big stage we are better than both of them. We're hardly ging to get a better chance to win the Cup (been here before I know I know)

Another time for heroes.

Since we got promoted back to the top flight we have played them 13 times. They have won 5, drawn 5 and we have won 3.

3 of their wins have came against us this season. I’d rather avoid them but I certainly wouldn’t write us off if that’s who we face.

St. Mirren are definitely an easier team to play against, but I’m not going to worry about playing St. Johnstone.

They’re a nightmare to play against and our record against them is poor, but I’ll happily take a crack at them in the final if that’s who we end up with.

It's surely all a matter of opinion but I think St Johnstone should be favourites to win the final.

I realise Hibs have amassed more league points over the season and probably have better individual players overall, but this is a one-off game, not the league. St Johnstone have the best cup record this season and have now beat us three games in a row.

Before anybody goes overboard in response: I'm not writing off Hibs chances or saying there's no point turning up, and this is just my personal opinion.

Don't agree with that.

We have better players than they do. If we play to our level then we likely win the game which is why we are favourites.

Chelsea have the better of the head to head against Man City this season but City will rightfully be favourites in the Champion League final.

St Johnstone turned into Barcelona or something? Great chance to win the cup against a side we’re better than.

I know we’re a bit wary because, well we’re Hibs! But we maybe need to be a wee bit more positive and let that rub off on the players. Can’t blame them for being a bit nervous if that’s the vibes we’re handing out. We’re Hibs, they’re ****** St Johnstone. They should be scared of us.... let’s get it done.
