Can't believe this happened 35 years ago. Biggest bottle job in history.

The previous few months were murder as they hit the top of the league and held onto it. If you think Sportsound was murder last year multiply it a hundred times.
Jambos came out the woodwork everywhere and headed up to Dundee for the coronation. Surely nothing could go wrong!
Then a player, who to be fair most of us had never heard of and looked like Bobby Ball, came of the bench to become a Hibs legend.
Fantastic day.

I remember this season specifically for a number of reasons as I had got a junior membership for Prestonfield Golf club as a few of my mates had joined.

I’d get on the bus from Ferry Road over to Mayfield and walk along and as I did so would pass garages.

Some Jambo had penned the results week by week throughout the season on one of the garage doors. So each week as I’d pass id see their spawny results. The garage owner must have been maroon inclined too.

Actually it makes me think I wonder if that “artist” grew up to get involved in the London Hearts stats site (that still refuses to record out greatest victory)

Still the funniest day of my life. And they have the cheek to give out to us about bottling it :greengrin

Almost as good as the 2 AK goals is the penalty they're denied because the Hearts fan ref didn't want to appear biased.

They can keep pretending 'Hibsing it' is an actual thing, like losing a two-goal lead a few times in the Championship (whilst we were still beating them regularly) is anywhere near the bottling they were part of that day. Truly the most embarrassing capitulation in Scottish football history, and it still hurts every last ****ing one of them.

God bless Albert Kidd and 'St Liedown'

I remember walking down Newington Road that morning. There was a sport shop with mannequins in the window wearing "Heart of Midlothian, SPL champions 1985/86" t-shirts. Should have bought one...

I had the privilege and honour on the 21st November 2003 of presenting Alby (as he is now know) with the Oz Branch retrospective Player of the Year trophy for season 1985/6, in Melbourne.

We flew him in from Adelaide, and a great time was had by all!

I’ve still got the pic of the actual presentation but technical ineptitude prevents me from sharing it!

Kidd, Kidd, Kidd..... it's ringing a bell but could someone help me? I mind there being a Kidd that played for Hearts and one that played for Dundee. Which one are we talking about here? What did he do?

I was only wee, but remember it well. A friend of my dad's is a Jambo who was at Dens that day; he is still haunted all these years later. His description of the total silence on the bus all the way home is beautiful :greengrin

I remember being at ER watching a dire Hibs v DU and the buzz going round that Kidd had scored, was a horrendous few seconds until we realised it was Sir Albert

35 years ago makes me feel so old
Some Jambo mates had extra tickets for final against Aberdeen so went to that game how sad for them 😁😁😁😁
They're forever blowing doubles.
