Anyone else think that Ron should put up a massive bounty to the squad for securing third ( worth an extra £200,000 allegedly) and cup win securing a £5m pot WITH guaranteed European involvement till Christmas.

The players should have professional pride in performance but worth incentivising their pockets like never before surely?

They are agreed at the start of the season. There will already be a financial incentive to finish third and/or win the cup.

Also not sure where you are getting £5 million from. The Finance Director said at the recent AGM that if we qualified for the Europa League it could be worth £3-4 million but that doesn't include expenses. If it's the Conference league it will obviously be less.

They already have a bonus structure in place for the cup and league position.

Whatever the bonus plan is only last week finishing 3rd was essential now winning the cup is more important.

I’d hazard a guess that a cup winning bonus will already be fairly substantial. The last pre cup final bonus discussion ended well didn’t it 😂

In 2016? I would have thought so.

The reference was to arguments the day before the 2012 final.

I think when we announced that players’ wages were being deferred, the club also announced that the bonus system had been changed from a per win bonus to being paid at the end of the season (iirc, based on finishing fourth or better).

In a shameless plug for the upcoming Hibs.pod episode release we asked Jack Ross about the different ways the season could play out and how that impacted the thinking of both him and the players.

He was absolutely clear that winning the up And finishing 3rd was the goal. He discussed the fact that the targets set at the beginning of the season were 'ambitious'.

Like any business setting ambitious targets there will be incentives for doing so. Leaving aside the financial aspect the players and manager will want to finish 3rd for themselves. It's the most reliable means of proving we have been the best team in the league this season (with the obvious 2 exceptions). Likewise winning the cup is something most players never get the chance to get near experiencing. The players own professional pride and ambition will be the biggest motivator.

Really looking forward to this podcast, that’s a major coup to get Ross on. Superb.

To be fair the figure was 3m-4m for Europe but that didn't take into account winning the cup. If we get Europe that means we'll have won the cup so that 3m-4m probably turns into 5m
