The commentator just said that a Roma player couldn't be substituted because they'd used up the"3 windows" and that half time had already gone. At least I think that's what he said.

What's he talking about? Have I totally missed a rule change?

When the 5 subs came in you can only make them on 3 occasions.

Am I right in thinking it's 3 stoppages to play? i.e. half time doesn't count as a window?

That would make sense given his comments about half time.

Yes that's right.

It's basically to stop teams making 5 changes in row to waste time.
