Very, very optimistic given they struggled to attract 15k fans to Pittodrie when they were finishing 2nd. Nothing wrong with aiming high but I sometimes wonder if that Cormack is the full shilling.

Did they even get half of that last season? They have had the best period in their modern history/will have again for a long, long time and couldn’t even get more than us when we were in the Championship. A wee team with delusions of grandeur.

Not a chance of coming anywhere close to that. Or even close to 10,000

Always thought this sort of scheme was worth thinking about to generate momentum.

At another time this could have worked but probably doesn't match the timing of where the fans are not at all happy with the eye bleeding football that has gone before and them as a team - with an uncertain manager and massive overhaul needed and they appear to be going down the way.

If something like this was put in place after a cup win for instance..... or with europa league group stage football to look forward to.......then things could really start moving.

Will be interesting to see how they get on.

Good for them. Hope all clubs have ambitious targets.

Interesting as they state that season ticket money is only 15% of their income.
I don't know their financials but if their turnover is £14m then that means they have 7k season tickets at average £300.
It's pretty poor for their relative success recently.
It does say to me that 'just' coming 3rd isn't enough, there has to be an element of excitement and not just a grind.
My belief is that grind will get you to that level in our league but to get wins in Europe and win a cup you have to have the X factor now and again.
Of course on the crap pitches mid winter work hard and grind out the wins but you must have flair in there too.
Thankfully we look to be putting that part of the package together, I really hope we can finish the season on a high and get the ST's flying out the door

Had a quick look online for how many they sold last season and they had just broken the 8,000 mark at the end of July. It's very ambitious to target nearly double that.

Maybe Hibs should announce a target of 22,000 STs for next season. As an average of 15% of ST Holders are missing from every game, it should be manageable

Might as well read "Aberdeen target Mbappe and Haaland double signing" for all the likelihood they'll achieve it

The Pittodrie library will be rocking with 15k STs. Might have to drop two pins at once to hear them.

They could maybe target fifteen decibels from the home support at the same time.

You could be right. It might be like the postwar boom in attendances. In such circumstances, Aberdeen are correct to aim high.

More likely to be walk ups though, while fans will be desperate, most of that will be regulars, and a huge amount of families have had their finances decimated this past year and won’t be affording ST’s.

It is actually thought that the majority of people actually have more savings and disposable income than this time last year.

Have your worst season for a number of years then aim to double you ST sales. 😃

Hot-desking comes to Easter Road. Can't forsee any problems with that. 🤔🙂

Not quite.

The overall amount of money saved in 2020 has increased hugely - but it is spread fairly thinly.

The most recent report I read suggested that about 8% of the population had benefited from increased incomes, and 65% were basically unchanged.

The remainder - 27% of households have seen incomes fall during the pandemic, 66% if you are self employed. A lot of people have been and will continue to be struggling.

Hence, I am not sure that the massive increase in savings in 2020 will genuinely filter down to football clubs in any meaningful way.

So if the income of 65% of the population was unchanged, it is a logical assumption that 65% have spent less, therefore increased savings.

I know I'm better off by not spending some £3,000 on holidays alone. I've not been in a pub, not replaced clothes, saving loads on petrol etc etc.

Your stats about income does not have a bearing on savings.

Financially I've got more spare cash than at this time last year, but my brain's burst!

Its really difficult to work these reports into the "real world".

Some people will have more cash of that there is no doubt - but the question is if those people will alter their habits and start going to the football.........I am not so sure.

If these people had the capacity to spend those £££££ on football before but were spending it elsewhere (clothes/holidays/pub), why would they now change?

There is also the demographic of football fans which I dont really know about - if we have a lot of younger fans, many of them have been disproportionately affected by job losses / income reduction in the last year.

I guess we will find out come August or whenever we get back into grounds !?

I get that. In Aberdeen's case they appear to be looking for 'new' fans, but that seems a long shot, and I don't think the 'spare cash' possibility is a game changer to the extent they're looking at.

What is interesting is that only 15% of their current running costs are met by selling season tickets. Maybe selling tickets with the carrot of discounts isn't working.

Yeah, I was surprised at that - we have always known their commercial income was bigger than ours, but I think Hibs rely on ST and away fan income much more than the sheep.
