Cant be far off surely? If we win our remaining three games would that give us our best ever points total? 68?

As far as the top league's concerned it was 67 points in the 17/18 season.

69 - not the correct answer, just thought I'd channel my inner Bill and Ted

We can still also get our record number of top flight away wins (one chance left to do it).

Heading for an over 50% win rate in the top flight for the first time since Eddie Turnbull was the gaffer. Incredible that some fans still have doubts about JR.

I’ve been a doubter. The way we bounced back from the last semi final started winning me round. The next few weeks will have me totally won round of it goes as we hope.

I'm similar. By no means wanted to change but was concerned that I didn't see enough that was capable of building on solid steady performances.
I've seen in the last while more and more of a spark about the team, still some flat spells like letting Motherwell and Livi back into games but we're getting there.
Finish off with the cup and I'm sure every critic has been answered!

If we win at Aberdeen he will be the only hibs manager to ever win 11 away league games in one season

We won 12 out of 18 away games in the old First Division in 98/99.

I'll admit i wanted him out after the Saints semi defeat but he's done a incredible job this season and hopefully will win us the cup in a few weeks time.

Absolutely, people still moaning. It's a funny old world, who'd have thought Heckingbottom would end up in charge of a EPL club...albeit soon to be relegated

Fair play to Ross, you simply can’t argue with the figures this season. The style of football has been a lot better since Jackson Irvine came in too I think, seems to be a better shape about us.

I never wanted Ross sacked but I wasn’t a big fan and hoped we would have a Bobby Williamson scenario where someone would come and take him off our hands.

Thankfully that never happened and hopefully we can go on and build on this seasons success.

I know the topic is a touchy subject but I still think the gripe about not winning the big games is a monkey he needs to get off his back by beating an old firm side, a derby or this up coming semi final. Continually lose these games and he’ll never be far away from a crisis with some fans, probably myself included in the aftermath and emotions are running high.

(I know the Aberdeen game was a big game and it was brilliant to win it, that win won’t be enough though)

So did Alex Miller and many wouldn’t look fondly back on his time as manager, despite some decent success.

This is turning back into a criticism of Ross though and it wasn’t my intention. Just my opinion that if he is going to completely win over the masses he needs to beat Hearts regularly (once in 5 or 6 maybe when we have been better than them?), failure to do so will see him failing to win over the fans completely imo.

I’m saying Hearts there but same applies to semi finals and finals if we are playing weaker sides than us.

Fair enough, thought it was more than that.

Not about changing the rules, Ross has won me over, I was wrong in my criticism of him in the past.

The perception of him not winning big games won’t change though until he regularly wins big games and until that happens he won’t be far from criticism, inevitably some will be over the top.

People can argue that games against Motherwell, Aberdeen etc are big games and in the context of a season there will be important games like them, they won’t be enough to win over fans who won’t accept a poor derby record or never beating the old firm though.

I realise we've still to beat either of them but, over the season, we've given Rangers and Celtc much harder games than any other club.

There's at least twice where a despicable refereeing decision was the only thing that stopped us getting at least a point against Rangers.

I agree, I was never in the "Ross out" camp even after the St Johnstone disaster but I did say at the time that it would be difficult to see how we would come back from that in the eyes of some fans. Clearly getting 3rd and winning the Scottish Cup would go some way to appeasing many people but I do think regular derby wins are required now that Hearts are returning next season.

Frankly if coming 3rd and winning the Scottish cup doesn’t go ALL the way to appeasing that, the. People are clearly supporting the wrong team.

Hagi kicking Newell in the head, Morelos stamping on Porteous and Porteous scoring at Ibrox.

According to Scottish referees only the first two are acceptable.

I don't necessarily disagree but I do think if we lose every derby next season the same criticisms will surface again no matter what we achieve this season.

That wouldn’t be a Jack Ross thing tho, it would be an any many thing. As I’ve already said tho, Ross won his first Derby, which happened to be at Tynecastle.

Football fans are fickle - if we lost 4 derbies but finished above them and won the league cup, how would that be viewed?

There is without a doubt a number of fans waiting for Ross to fail for some reason or another. But I feel the football has got better as the season has gone on, and we’ve got through some big games recently against Aberdeen and Motherwell. Our consistency in the league means he deserves some respect and im looking forward to seeing what he adds in the summer.

I don't disagree with that at all, especially the last part.

Ross was the man I wanted us to appoint as soon as I heard he had left Sunderland and things were falling apart with Heckingbottom. Things haven't been all plain sailing but I think finishing 3rd would be a good measure of improvement in itself considering where we were at the start of last season when he came in. Winning the cup would be very impressive.

The main argument you hear from the JR critics is about our style of play. I genuinely believe that's down to not being in the stadiums. It's not as exciting watching at home, on your todd. If we were in ER, jumping about, shouting and singing I'm sure we'd be happy with the style of play on show and the excitement levels. If you listen to the pundits on TV & the wireless, they wax lyrical about how we play. We are third for a reason and our football is good to watch. I agree though that, should we not win the cup from this position, the JR critics will have their reason to shout again.

Also, watching a load of Prem & Champs league makes it worse when you get a like for like reminder of how much less skilful the average Scot Prem player is. And all the dreadful astro pitches don't help.

When you're at ER seeing it in the flesh, it doesn't seem so bad.

Agreed.

It's the difference between watching the DVD of a gig and actually being in the mosh pit.
