Boyle - Very important threat for us all season. Even when not performing in a game he has caused issues for defences and carried that threat still. But after the Nisbet transfer debacle he's been a massively important player for us and stepped into the fold tremendously well.

Nisbet - Top scorer. Has adjusted very well to the top flight and rightly has earned the transfer interest.

Doig - After a few shaky performances earlier on against the likes of Frimpong at Celtic, he's grown from them and been a hugely vital piece of the system since October/November. A real talent.

Hanlon - Part of a defence that, for the most part in relative terms, has been superb and probably been statistically the best for a few years now. Can't remember many if any mistakes he's made that has cost us. Also has effectively been the club captain in a football sense this season and has lead the side tremendously well.

Porteous - Same as Hanlon in terms of defensive output but also didn't allow the transfer speculation get to him and came back into the side just as well as he was before it. Has had a couple of moments but on the whole is developing amazingly well.

Josh has made more than 3 times the amount of top flight appearances, that Paterson has. He’s also younger than him

Shows how good Boyle has been for us this past few months, given it seems unanimous on him, and he was poor for most of the first half of the season.

He was getting pelters on here right up to January.

Not sure Boyle deserves it when he was pretty poor for the first half of the season.

For me poty should be someone who was consistently good the whole season, but can't really argue with anyone saying Boyle when you look at his numbers and how good he has been recently

That's appreciated by the majority of fans.

Was Martin Boyle really that poor first half of the season? Maybe not as electric as he has been recently but poor? He started the season with a double.

Its hard to look past Boyle . He's been creating goals , scoring them , stepping up and taking the penaltys . Even when he doesnt play well he keeps defenders on their toes. He seems to improve almost every season

Think that would probably be my 5 too.

Would maybe replace Doig for Gogic or Nisbet.

Not been too impressed with Nisbet's all-round play this season, tends to lose the ball needlessly a lot of the time when he drops deep, but can't argue with the amount of goals he's scored.

Actually you are right - Gogic should be in there and no doubt. I'd therefore change my 5 to

Boyle
Hanlon
Gogic
McGinn
Newell

Doig has been a real revelation in this his breakthrough season but has not quite shown the consistent contribution of the above five.

Our front three have been great collectively all season but all have had dips in form - hence no Nissy or Doidge in my list. Boyle however has been effective and a threat even when not at the top of his game - he's been an out ball for us right through the campaign even while he's been kicked all over the park on a weekly basis. Now the goals are flowing his importance to us is obvious but, for me, his flair, electric pace, bravery, consistency and commitment to the cause makes him my POTY by a stretch.

Not all of us were giving him pelters back then. For me he was still one of our most important players through that spell even if his form was not the best. This is reflected by the fact he's barely missed a minute from August right the way through.

Quite hard looking over the whole season as all the main contenders have had fairly lengthy spells where they haven't been on top form. My five would be

Boyle
Gogic
Hanlon
Newell
Nisbet

Boyle would win it for me too simply because he has been the catalyst to us winning so many games. Doig is without doubt the YPOTY as Porteous, now just turned 22, is presumably too old for that.

I think the most encouraging thing this year is we have a group of players who are all very hard working and who all seem to be about the team rather than themselves. Jack Ross looks like he wants players who can perform with and without the ball and from our CFs right the way back through the team we have players who look pretty comfortable contributing going forward and also doing the less glamorous parts of the game. Our recent starting line ups include 10 outfield players who have all scored this year with subs coming on who have also hit the back of the net.

Statistically we are best of rest in terms of goal difference, goals scored and next best for goals conceded combined with a shoe in for 3rd and 3 semi finals. So despite the players all having parts of the season where form dipped the Team has been pretty consistent and this is a year where it has been all about team for me. The star man will be player of the year but this season will be one I remember for having an excellent team who all worked for each other and Jack Ross deserves great credit for what is being achieved but also for the direction of travel
