Two bookings in the cup this season but I can't remember if it is still two for a suspension or if it was upped to three.

Absolutely no need for Gogic to go over when he was already on a booking, so frustrating. I hope Ross gives him the hairdryer treatment!

Accumulation of two cautionable offences in
the William Hill Scottish Cup for clubs who enter the competition after Round 3 (caution totals revert to zero prior to start of semi-final rounds)

So hopefully be ok for Boyler🤞

Both Boyle and Gogic will be huge misses for the semi. Hopefully avoid both the Huns and Aberdeen if they get through as we'd need our best team to beat them. St Mirren or Killie in Semi please.

Horrendous. One opportunity to attack the full back but passed it across the pitch, backwards, to our left back. And let the defenders step up to hit the pens. It’s not the fact that he’s poor that annoys me, it’s the lack of willingness to be positive.

Sounds like a confidence issue to me. He was right, in that event, to let someone like Porto take a pen before him.

At one point near the end of normal time he did really well to track back and dispossess one of their forwards after they'd drifted past McGinn. Rest of the team were blowing, understandably, but he was sharp there.
I thought he generally carried the ball well and mostly retained possession. By no means was he excellent, but he was just fine and his energy was very much needed at that point.
He made a hash of his first attacking dribble and folk got their pitchforks out IMO.

See I think that’s fair. The stupid sarcastic ‘cool’ posts less so.
The one when he passed the ball from right wing to left back, instead of trying to be positive, just summed him up for me. It not the being poor that annoys me, it’s the lack of willingness to be good.

This place is brutal.
Why can't people just accept that even players they don't rate can sometimes do well.
His very first attack was clumsy, but after that Wright played well enough.
He carried the ball forward where possible, generally found his teammates with passes and at one point did a wee heel flick thing with the inside of his right boot to make space for himself on the corner of the box.
As I said before but people have chosen to ignore, the double substitution swung possession in our favour big style, therefore Wright played his part.
Disagree if you want, I can't be arsed arguing.

Gogic could be a bigger miss than Boyle because of his defensive qualities and energy all over the pitch. Games like today Boyle started well but faded second half we have attacking options although not as good. Gogic seems to get more energy as the game goes on I don't think we have an option to cover him.

I don't have supporter standards, just a basic understanding of the meaning of the word.
I don't expect people to blindly praise players they don't rate, but maybe a grudging acceptance that they did OK during their 20 minutes on the field might be a good start - better than putting the boot in wherever possible in any case.

Absolutely agree with this and was having this very discussion earlier with someone. "Supporters" is the wrong word these days. It should be "expectors". Folk talking about Ross at Sunderland when it went 2-2, Sunderland who have done the square root of **** all since Ross left ffs, forgetting this is the most successful season in 15/16 years for this football club. Pathetic imo. Some folk want to go to the extreme to criticise.

Does this not mean he can play?
Probably not. :greengrin The rules would have been written to mean what was agreed they were to cover rather than to be a means of communication to fans. I think that it is intended they provide a clean sheet for all who are eligible to play in a semifinal.
So both a yellow in round 2 and round 3 and a yellow in the quarter final and the previous round result in suspension for next game. The difference is that the next game in the latter case is the semi. I guess the important bit of the wording is the reference to ‘immediately’ before the semi. That would mean that all cumulative disciplinary slates are cleared but that does not extend to sanctions i.e. the automatic suspension, already imposed before that point.
The rules were not written with a brief of being plainly understandable but to give force to an agreed outcome. I’d hope that I’m wrong:wink:

The ‘supporters’ stuff is pish.
Not putting the boot in to Wright. Just, again, was disappointed with him. Some folk are happy to debate if he was good, bad or somewhere in between which I think is fine.

More crap. Define a supporter? Someone buying a season ticket maybe?
But any criticism and they’re pathetic?
Criticism in this thread was so minimal.

The ‘supporters’ stuff is pish.
Not putting the boot in to Wright. Just, again, was disappointed with him. Some folk are happy to debate if he was good, bad or somewhere in between which I think is fine which I think is fine.
But why let that stop you sticking the boot in to supporters rather than have a proper debate on what has happened on the pitch.

According to a few match reports I've seen, the Aberdeen defender Tommie Hoban was booked in both their Scottish Cup ties v Dumbarton and Livingston this season, yet there's no mention of a suspension on the SFA website and he's in today's squad. Surely if it's 2 bookings for a suspension, he should be out for today's game against Dundee United.

Said this right at the start of the thread. I believe it's three bookings this season. Doesn't matter what the rule book that someone has posted a link to, I found something else, equally official that said three bookings. Cba digging it out again tho. After the introduction of Watt, McGinn was struggling to cope as he was receiving no help from Boyle on that side. Wright’s introduction helped shore up our right hand side and regain control of the match. For that reason he had a positive impact during the match. If Ross had recognised this issue earlier and brought on Wright during the 90 minutes we may have avoided having to go through extra time and penalties.

I guess we'll find out for sure this afternoon. Hoban has been an ever present for Aberdeen this season. If he plays then so can Boyle in the semi.
It is. I get the impression that "supporter" is another word that's changed meaning since I was a lad.
There are too many people who want to prove their superior knowledge by pointing out how crap we (or certain players) are at every opportunity.
Hopefully once we're all out and about again folk will lighten up a bit.
I agree, for some people, even when we win there needs to be something to criticise and usually a player to blame or scapegoat
we won, a terrific team effort, with not a single player that I’d say played ‘badly, albeit some had a bigger influence than others

Depends on who we play. Dundee United, Kilmarnock, St Mirren I'm not that worried about Gogic missing. Easily better than those sides and beat them in all but 1 match (a very flukey 1-1 for United)
St Johnstone, Aberdeen, Rangers is a different story. We'd miss him big time.

So we put Lewis at full back and use Doig as a winger. So we switch most attacks down the left side. Magennis comes in for gogic and plays central and shows what he can really do ...Sorted !!
Hallberg for Gogic and Wright for Boyle is far more likely.
Can we recall Scotty Allan once Chumpionship is over?
Thats brilliant news if Boyle can play, although I still think Gogic will be the biggest miss.
Boyle has been such a match winner for us this season that he would definitely be a huge miss. But I thought Gogic was excellent yesterday, best I have seen him with the ball and his energy was massive. Game seemed to pass Newell by for large parts yesterday and to a lesser extent Irvine.

They usually do.
There was a link to the rules from 17/18 floating about earlier as proof that Boyle would be ok for the semi because it said that players who play for teams that enter in rounds 1-3 are suspended after 3 bookings and players who play for teams that enter from round 4 are suspended after 2 bookings.
However this season's competition has one less round than previous years' competitions and therefore no teams entered any later than round 3 so the reference above is irrelevant.
The only thing that makes me certain now that Boyle will be OK is that Hoban and Holt both appear to be fine after 2 bookings.
Maybe they just applied the 3 bookings rule across the board for this season although I agree it's not really fair on teams who come in at earlier rounds.

:agree:
Some players are better at taking penalties than others. For example, I'd be happy if Nesbit never takes another penalty for Hibs and he's meant to be our top striker.
Also, Porteous demanded to take one so criticising any of the other 5 players who didn't is completely unfair.

I put up the thread last night asking a genuine question, a thread that is now on it's fifth page.
It looks like he is ok to play but I've not seen it confirmed 100%, even better is it looks like the two bookings will be wiped so even a booking in the semi wouldn't rule him out the final.
