Chic Murray was my favourite, brief cameo role as the headmaster.

Remember going to the Dominion to watch it with my school class when it came out, must have been in P6 or P7. Watched it again just a couple of weeks back on BBC Scotland channel. Loads of great one-liners. Love the music that's played throughout the film as well.

What an odd euphemism.

I found her annoying at the time but very nice now. It's a film that improves with age.

Probably sacrilege to say so, but I think the opposite. I watched it recently and by modern standards the pace of the storytelling is painfully slow.

Restless Natives holds up much better from the same era.

Restless Natives was brilliant, I’ll have to try and watch that again. Does anyone know anywhere it can be viewed online?

Forsyth directed/produced a few great Scottish movies
Always loved Local Hero, and the beautiful locations and haunting music

That Sinking Feeling was a great film too, although given that I haven't seen it in about 30 years, I've no idea how well it's aged.

I prefer Restless Natives myself, but they're just different types of movies, and (IMUO) the 'pace' of Gregory's Girl suits the storyline.

I enjoyed the film when it came out but remain confused by the big escalator in St Andrew Square bus station (Glasgow Buchanan Street) and the fact everyone in the scheme was Glaswegian

IIRC the EEN cinema listings recorded that Gregory’s Girl was in its 60th week, etc. I eventually saw it at the Dominion over a year after general release and I think the screen only had about a dozen seats.

Can't at the moment think of a better film. Impossible to say how good it would have seemed without Knopfler's score though.
