That's very sad. All deaths are tragic, the shock of a sudden death is particularly difficult for family and friends affected. RIP.

Sad to hear.
Much as I couldn't bear their music, these guys should have been millionaires.
He can give Tam Paton a good kicking now 🤨

Very sad news. Have an affinity with the Rollers from my hometown. Tam Paton has a lot to answer for. RIP Les.

Although the boys came from Edinburg,I’m from the Pans where the fans HQ was based. And where, er, the manager was from. They are always fondly associated with the Pans.

My wife said she thought Les was from Broomhouse. I didn’t live in the east back then, thought some of them were from the Pans
Much as I couldn't bear their music, .....
🤨
In all fairness, they were **** of a lot better than the Osmonds!

Stuart Woody Wood went to St Augustines I inherited his science folder. Saw a programme which they reckon there was
£80 to £90million pounds of the bands money that went to others.
RIP Les.

Rollers were before my time, but of course everyone in Scotland knows about them. This Paton fella, was he also accused of crimes of the Gary Glitter variety?

He always had young guys round his mansion at Gogarburn and served time for related crimes in the early 80s. A multitude of rumours as to what he got up to and allegations of links to Cyril Smith and other now notorious figures. He ripped the lads in the band off for millions.

I'm sure the Longmuir brothers were Boroughmuir boys, they stayed somewhere about Gardeners Crescent. The family were Jambos, and I had the pleasure of being in their home on the evening of 1/1/73.😁

When the Screaming Stopped is an exhaustive history of the Rollers. It's not an edifying read. Monstrous management, talentless musicians and exploitation from start to finish.

A couple of them stayed on Caledonian Crescent in the late 70's/early 80's IIRC. My gran stayed at the top of the street.

I think he was living there when he knocked down and killed one of his neighbours.

From what i can remember, there must be about 10+members of the rollers throughout time,Nobby Clark from drumbrae in clermiston was the original singer on "Keep on dancing" their first hit if i remember correctly, still think the Beachcomers were better, along with the Phoenix.

Tam Paton, did he not own a number of flats at the Shore when it was a different place to what it is now, he certainly ripped them off, they were just kids at the time, I remember I think it was Les saying he signed a record deal for Tam in the back seat of a car in Broomhouse and didn't know what he was signng up to until much later

Couldn't stand the "famous" rollers. Billy Lyall and Dave Paton were good musicians though. Billy and Dave of course went on to greater success with Pilot and other bands.
I worked with Billy for a while in 1972, lovely guy.

You have to believe in Christianity for that!
Unfortunately, I'm of the opinion that Paton, Savile and their ilk got away with it.

Paton got away with most of it but did get a couple of years in jail.
