Hi all - just looking to for some advice from anyone with past experience of rural broadband.
I am moving to a new house and BT told me about this great product they can give me Halo+ Hybrid which would tap into the 4G network as well as using the normal line (which has 1-3mb speeds). However, just went to order it today and it transpires you can only use the 4G network if your internet is down. As i am now working from home, those speeds are just not going to be fast enough for Teams etc.
Anyone had any experience or knowledge about best options for me to look at?
TIA for any help

Is fibre available in the area. I have what you described from BT but I have full fibre to the house. The halo+ gives you a disc which extends the range.

Sorry, I don't know much about rural broadband options, but I'd think 1-3mbs will be enough for Teams.
Have you been able to test it?

Not sure if they can maybe help out?

is it completely copper all the way to the exchange or is the partial fibre (fibre to the cabinet)?
that’s about your best bet, if there’s not, there’s not much else can be done except looking at purely 4g options. Some services don’t work well with 4g though

That's gotta change at some point. Next week our phone will be switched to digital as well.

I moved from central Edinburgh to the Borders. Unbelievably 3 MBPs in Edinburgh, 72 MBPS in the Borders.

I'm using 4g at the moment, speeds around 100Mbps as opposed to 30Mbps from FTTC (fibre to the cabinet). It's not great for gaming as the latency (ping) lets it down but works fine for Teams, Zoom etc and I also use it for IPTV without a problem to combat the blocks etc, add to that I only pay £16 a month for a 3 unlimited sim and it works for me. What type of download speeds do you get from your phone 4G? It's completely down to where the closest mast is that facilitates the 4G service you're subscribed to. Doubtful but check to see if 5G is available in the area it's then a no brainer, if that's available with speeds around 900Mbps for £16 a month.

I find dipping my Internet decoder box thing in sheep urine for 10 minutes once a month helps my Wi-Fi.

We've moved to a semi rural area recently with BT the only cable option and whilst the internet speed is a wee bit slower, it hasn't impacted anything to a great extent. I can still zoom call, stream video, download large files, play games online fine.

EE do a 4g router with a decent data plan. You may need an external aerial but that's your best option if you can't get Fibre. Look around a broadband voucher as you may get a few hundred quid towards installation if you need aerial.
