Question; Thought they were in dispute with the rangers. When we played at Ibrox they couldn't provide any commentary of the game so you had to use hun tv as game wasn't on telly either.
Low and behold, their doing commentary of today's game. Absolute embarrassment.

They’ve done it from watching tv pictures in a studio the last few times.

So why or how could they not do similar when we played them? They had a show that day. Chick young and Ian Murray were on.

There are a million things wrong with the BBC but this is an example of bashing them for the sake of bashing them.

Do the BBC not simply have certain broadcast rights to coverage of cup games that don't apply to league games?

Why do the BbC also have so many games with the Fartz Iknow they havn't had many cup games on tv becase they don't get by the first round but said on hertsound that they are on on Tuesday again?

FWIW I'd say that BBC's coverage is a mile better than Premier Sports. Even if it's not a Celtic or Rangers game, it somehow ends up being about Celtic or Rangers.

No it's not. We were playing rangers in a massive game. It wasn't on TV or radio. Only way to see it was hun tv. Game didn't clash with any other as no other games on. Why do commentary on today's game at Ibrox and not ours. We are all supposed to be equal after all.

Like I said earlier, not as if they didn't have a show on that day. Chick Young, Ian Murray and Stuart McCall spent 2 hours doing Murray best 11 and giving you the odd update from Ibrox. Why couldn't those 3 have just done commentary of the game?

I think DH1875 has a point I tuned into sportsound to listen to the Hibs game also to find there was no commentary of the game, very poor from them today.

Because The Rangers don't like criticism so have taken a huge huff with the BBC and banned them. They can do that with league games, access for interviews, press conferences etc. but can't do so for Scottish Cup games, run under SFA auspices and with a different broadcasting deal. I think that's the case. Plenty bias to be found with them but not in this case.

Is it not the case that The Huns banned a BBC journo, which prompted the BBC to support him by saying they wouldn't return until the ban was lifted?

Exactly that - Chris McLaughlin told a few home truths and was banned. BBC said they wouldn't let The Rangers dictate which of their staff could cover games and here we are 5 or 6 years later. Chic Young (incredibly) also got into dispute with them at roughly the same time but I can't mind the details of that one. There was another dispute related to The Rangers accusing the BBC of stitching up McCoist with selective editing of an interview.

The whole thing makes The Rangers look incredibly petty but their slavering hoardes can't see that and think there's a BBC conspiracy against them. I hope the BBC keep standing their ground despite the inconvenience to the rest of us.

I'm assuming they'd argue that contractually they can only commentate on any feed provided by a non-club platform.

Not sure why they couldn't just use the BBC pictures that would make up the Sportscene edit though.
