View Full Version : Who would you like to get relegated?

Personally happy to see the back of Hamilton and Killie. Two plastic pitches away.

Would prefer Dundee to get promoted. I love a day out in Kirkcaldy but now that they have a plastic pitch....
If they changed their pitch I would prefer them over Dundee.

The way I’m seeing it is that Hearts think they’re in the clear and coming up but what if the team being relegated has a shrewd estate agent with 25 years experience In conveyancing on their side?

I wouldn’t rule out all premier league teams avoiding the drop just yet.

Hamilton.

I obviously support sporting merit so they have deserved their place in the top flight for all these years. They don't bring much to the league though. Crap stadium, crap pitch, crap crowds. They don't seem to have any potential to really improve their crowds in the way the likes of St Mirren and Dundee do/would.

I'm not all that bothered about Hearts coming back up either. Seeing them struggle is good for laughing at them. However I've always said a strong Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen and Dundee Utd is good for Scottish football. As long as Hibs finish higher I don't care if they all have relatively good seasons as well.

Yep, it could be argued that a season with no crowds and various covid related restrictions on training etc. have provided some skewed results this season.

Therefor it would be unfair for any premier team to be ejected from the league. :greengrin

Even though I hate both of their plastic pitches, I enjoy days out at Killie and Hamilton's not too far away from where I live just now, so it's a difficult one for me.

I've never shared the opinion that Hamilton were responsible for Hibs being relegated. That's 100% down to Butcher and the team we had at the time.

Yep, agree with that. I bear no ill will towards them, tbf they are usually good for points and goals.

I wouldn't mind seeing someone different in the league though so would be happy to see a new team in there.

Although I do appreciate the moniker Hamilton have been given by The Terrace as the 'cockroaches of the Scottish Premiership'

Unless you're a regular at away games and like a day out I can't see it matters much. I'd like QoS and Arbroath promoted. And Berwick Rangers.
I'd go for Hamilton though. I've never got to Hamilton earlier than 2pm or 6:45 for a game. Place looks a kip. It's the only Scottish stop before Glesca on the overnight bus. Maybe I think ill of the place coz I usually see it at 6am when passengers piling off wake me up. The ground's not great. Nor was the old one. Got to admire them staying up for 7 years but they're not a top-16 club. No more likely to come back up than go down to the seaside league once they get relegated.
I want Ross to stay up for Yogi. I wanted them down before he arrived. Only been once. Got there about 1 o'clock. 90 minutes too early. Can't see the love for the place as a day trip. A long hike. Can't risk planning to arrive at 2:30. Could booze in Inverness I suppose.
Killie's an OK day out. Some decent pubs. Some decent areas. You can take a stroll and gawk at the dives where Huns live if you're bored.

Why people care about getting 'bigger clubs' in the league is beyond me. Will it really make a difference to the league if a Raith are in the league instead. They're hardly a huge club anyway.

Let's be honest Dundee, Falkirk, Dunfermline and Partick should all at least be in the top league.

Top league should be at least 16 teams playing each other twice. OK, the turnover of clubs might shrink a little but it would lead to a more sporting league. A model where revenue is shared shared equally might even make it a better league.

This playing each other 4 times a season is a nonsense. What other major league does it?

Why? They both got relegated to league 1, there are 10 teams in the Championship that should be ahead of them.

And they have 3 sided stadiums.

OK, Raith Rovers, Inverness and Queen of the South then. They would all add value to the league.

Look at leagues across Europe in Germany and Italy, there are so many unheralded teams in the top leagues now. Benevento, Crotone, Sassuolo and Spezia.

Falkirk have fallen on hard times lately and have had to cut their cloth accordingly. It was disheartening when they severed their youth connections to concentrate on the first team because their development of young players had been one of their success stories over the previous years.

You are correct about the teams in front of them. However, if Falkirk can get back up to where they were and can afford to rekindle their youth partnerships it would be better for Scottish football at least at upper championship level.

Being Falkirk based I'm a bit biased but they are a decent community club and not too far a trip for the Edinburgh based amongst our ranks.

Agree with your point, the leagues should be bigger, but I think there are other countries of comparable size in Europe whose teams play each other 4 times. Croatia and Denmark are 2 examples (unless I'm mistaken).

There are enough teams in Scotland the same size as or bigger than Livi/Ross County/Hamilton to make a 16 team top league work (current top 12, plus 4 from ICT, Dundee, Dunfermline, Raith, QOS, Ayr, Morton, Falkirk, Thistle. Not sure if I've missed anyone....). Anything below that top league should then be regionalised IMO, to avoid the likes of Stranraer v Elgin on a Tuesday night. That sort of fixture is pure madness.

I don't mind Tommy Wright but have sympathy with your view given the Lafferty link. And Boyd.
If Caley Thistle come up through the play-offs I hope it is at the expense of Ross County, purely from the team pov and not having double the number of trips all the way up the A9.
Not looked at the stats but it just strikes me that over the years our record up that way isn't great. Will stand corrected if any statos out there can counter my impression.

They made a massive error of judgement scrapping their youth system - one of their more redeeming qualities. If they can - and it's probably a big if at the moment, not to say it's impossible - then they would be an asset to the scottish game.

I have a (imo) perfectly rational dislike of Falkirk after our time in the championsip.

It might also lead to better football, because the current league set up has up to 6 teams fearing relegation and so more cautious tactically.

Dumbo Budge should have thought this through last summer before presenting her 14 team compromise mess, which offered benefits for no one except Hearts.
