I was really impressed with the commentary last night. Not a second waisted, every potential silence filled with a word or two. It was so interesting to hear about QOTS having the highest floodlights in the country (camera focused on them to help us make up our own minds.)

When the stadium was done up did Hibs not miss a trick in adding height to the old ones rather than building them into the stands? May have brought extra revenue with pylon enthusiasts or interested tourists. Something to rival the country’s longest glass curtain for sure. Maybe something KP could follow up on?

I can't believe Hearts haven't got the highest floodlights in the world, maybe they've got the biggest by square metre of metal used or the brightest bulb in the world when compared to the sun?

Maybe one of our undercover thieves could rise to this particular challenge?

Maybe they do except just like the team they go down a long way before they go up?

Bulbs grow in the ground, lamps light up :grr:Crap, never realised, now I'm going to have to spend the whole day burying my lightbulbs in the garden.

Hopefully they'll grow.

I have to say that I turned the match audio off after about 20 minutes as I was fed up with the mindless drivel assaulting my diminishing brain cells. I realise that commentating is not simple but when it is done by simple people then it becomes offensive. Surely, if they are the best then the older retired commentators should be used for home schooling them. I frequently sighed at the efforts of some of these older guys at the time but would have them back in a heartbeat (assuming they still had a heartbeat ).

I heard that our neighbours plan to make theirs the tallest for 2 reasons:

1. Save their players' eyes when watching passes from the back coming down again, and;

2. To put enclosed seats on for the 'Castle View 2' restaurant ("this time you can see it").

Maybe where the stairs to nowhere will go. Brilliant forward planning by Mrs, Doctor, Queen Anne.

Wish we had such a visionary at our club.

Also they have the largest terracing in the country. I’m sure they sell chips but I’m unsure if it offers a castle view.

Did someone mention chips?

:dunno:

I personally was fed up listening to their inane gibberish about our 10 Scottish FA Cup finals and Hearts

It was good to hear Liam MacLeod mention Hanlon, that goal, the replay and the historic Cup Win. I do hope plenty Jambos were listening in at that point.

I thought the coverage was good. I enjoyed listening to big marv who's clearly still a big hibee and I thought everyone else was very complementary of us.

I did laugh at the floodlight fact but they need to talk for a long time and of course they're going to talk some *****, I'm pretty sure that'll happen on football broadcasts across the world.

Did he mean tallest physical structure or the highest above mean sea level? Typical BBC not giving you all of the information to suit their agenda...

Maybe they do. But they are such a humble and quietly dignified club we would never know.

They've got the brightest in the world, so when the opposition look up for the ball, they get blinded.

I thought the Huns were the biggest whiners in the world after their club went bust in 2012 and they all complained they had been relegated to the 4th tier, but the Yambo nation outdid them with their self-obsessed whingeing during a global pandemic.

There’s nothing they can’t be the biggest at if they put their mind to it.

Biggest shock in the Scottish Cup? Already in the bag.

Makes up for them having the dullest and dimmest fans in the world.

The Hearts have got a Tardis, I mean how else could your get 22,000 seats in a 19800 capacity stadium

I don't get why folk are complaining about McLeod mentioning the floodlights. Nice wee bit of trivia about what is a cracking wee ground.

The ones at Tynie could be the bigliest, in terms of weight. There's a lot of metal there.

Now i feel bad. I wasn’t complying about his factoids just teasing. He seemed like a lovely person, just trying too hard to keep talking.

It beats working so… I've done a quick image search survey of current Premiership teams and the answer is – almost all of them:

Aberdeen: two pylons at one end
Celtc: no pylons
Dundee United: three pylons (including one mini pylon on top of the filled-in corner)
Hamilton: four corner pylons
Hibs: no pylons
Kilmarnock: mini pylons on top of the stand (debatable)
Livingston: four corner pylons
Motherwell: four corner pylons
Ross County: four corner pylons
Sevco: no pylons
St Johnstone: four corner pylons
St Mirren: four corner pylons

I'm fairly sure I was looking at current pictures for all the grounds, but I could have gone wrong somewhere.

Thought McFadden was good. MacLeod is just annoying. Is it right that QoTS have tall floodlights (some say taller than some others)?

2-0 up at Tynie with little over ten minutes to go. 1902 songbook in full flow and then look what Robbie did. Gifted us the cup and they have invited him back to inflict more ignominy on their famous war winning club. Oh the tragedy.

My guess would of been East End Park or Dens well before QOTS anyway. Meadowbank before her demolition would of surely rivalled most grounds? Old Parkhead will no doubt forever remain undefeated though.

Anorak time here I think the Palmerston floodlights are one of the last examples of the 'drenchlight' system favoured by scottish clubs. Hence the hight of the pylons

QOS haven't upgraded the ends of the ground which is why they are still there. Most top scottish grounds that had this style of lighting have undergone massive upgrades since the sixtiesso have newer systems

Palmerston has the largest terracing in Scotland... but only because most clubs have now knocked them down and replaced them with a modern stand.

Never mind, it's an interesting wee factoid nonetheless.

Have to agree with the bit in bold.

I was watching the Liverpool match last night and there were periods when nothing was said. I thought the commentators had gone to sleep.

That said, it was a pretty dull game at times and nothing like the 'entertainment' the night before.

And how many times did they mention 2016 and our famous cup win! Brilliant! The icing on the cake was Marven Bartley - he is a joy to listen too. Talks so much sense to be a footballer.
