After my Hertz friend throwing this line away again most recently, got me thinking and realising if Tynecastle's finest were to go to the wire and lose last day to Raith, that would be the third time I am aware of them capitulating at the final hurdle..ouch  We totally Hibsed it five years ago right enough..the best thing was when JM told the listening public post match interview

It was used recently by a behind the times columnist in the dying print media. Probably trying to get a reaction. I don't remember his name and didn't read his whole column so it didn't work.

The term should have been consigned to the bin with the Scottish cup win but it is trotted out by people that don't understand the origin of the term or the significance of that win.

Tedious term used by insignificant pundits.

A jambo friend of mine used this term last week on a golf course when he screwed up a shot (again). I politely referred him to Brora / relegation / failure of legal challenges and manager / player signing policies. He was very quite after that.

I've never understood quite why we get so much scrutiny for the amount of silverware that we've won in recent years.

For the most part of that Aberdeen and Hearts have had much bigger wages budgets.

For that Aberdeen have a tired and tatty stadium, eye bleeding hoofball and the grand total of one league cup.

Hearts have two relegations, two Scottish cups, embarrasing defeats to Brora, an incomplete stand, a team of washed up journeymen and a list of stiffed creditors as long as your arm. It nearly broke them.

We've got a good stadium, a good squad with young talent, a league cup, a Scottish cup and a bright future. We're producing international level players and are third in the league.

'Hibsed it' is such a myth. We punch at our weight without a lot of the crap that came with it for both Aberdeen and Hearts. We're a well run club.

I think it basically came from our Scottish Cup hurt and pretty poor hampden record for the decade or two up until we did win it. You know what that lot are like when they get a hold of something (they’re still toiling to let go of 5-1 from 2012)... it’s not something that’s ever really bothered me. And as alluded to, it provided John McGinn with a very satisfactory retort in the aftermath of our historic win.

In my time supporting Hibs I have successfully pick up 2x Drybrough cups [valued in its day] 3x League Cups and a Scottish Cup. In three of the six successes we had to beat both members of the old firm in the semi and final, we had one win each where we beat Rangers in the semi or final and the only time we didn't play a member of the old firm we took care of Hearts on route.

By contrast, two of hearts three Scottish Cup wins came with the back drop of financial doping with Romanov using his bank's customer's cash to bring in players neither he or hearts couldn't hope to bring in with legal funds and even their win in 1998 was funded by a large part by the 24 million debt inherited by Romanov but never paid off by him. Herts are legends in their own fans mind but the reality is a different world altogether.

This is normally followed by

It’s in the past so you cannot bring that up blah blah blah...

In the last week however I have used this

Brora’d it.

They all think they are so superior with this big team pish but let’s face it if big teams have the smallest capacity stadium in the city, not the last Edinburgh Team to win a major trophy, haven’t won the league cup for 58 years and counting, are in a lower league and were put out of the Scottish cup by a highland league team then they are a big team!

Reminds me of the Hogmanay when they first moved it to Princes st. Mental crush as they’d not managed the crowds and everyone converged at the bottom of the Mound.

Anyway this guy got up on top of the roof of the toilets for a better view. Polis ask him to come down- he cups his ear preventing not to hear. Not coming down. Impasse ensues.

Polis make their way up and at the last minute the boy dives into the crowd but he hadn’t accounted for people anticipating this abs moving out the way it was like the parting of the Red Sea. Boy bit concrete but managed to hobble away whilst the Polis just shook their heads - just let em knock themselves out.

Not sure why folk get wound up by this given it can't exist anymore than the Loch Ness monster, Santa and the Tooth Fairy can or indeed Hibs Class.
It's all made up by fans and the media to denigrate or build up a club or in the case of the media to give a story an angle or make it more interesting.
Each team and manager are separate entities and none has any effect on the character and abilities of another representing the same club years later.

The use of this term from Hearts fans only demonstrates their complete lack of self awareness and a high degree of ironic comedy.
This term from fans of the team who bottled it, blew it, and fell at the final hurdle with the winning post in sight in spectacular fashion on many occasions but most notably:

- against Kilmarnock at Tynecastle in the final game of the 1964/65 season, when they merely needed to ensure they didn’t lose by 2 goals! Beat 0-2 they lost the league by 0.04 goal average!! 😂

- against Dundee in 86 when they just needed to draw their final game. Well we know the rest of course, but in a rather amusing quirk this season was blown on Goal Difference. Hearts having been prominent in changing the goal average rule in 65. If goal average was used in 86 - they would have won!

Alanis Morissette and all that - lol 😂

The use of this term from Hearts fans only demonstrates their complete lack of self awareness and a high degree of ironic comedy.
This term from fans of the team who bottled it, blew it, and fell at the final hurdle with the winning post in sight in spectacular fashion on many occasions but most notably:

Against St Mirren last season when a win would have seen them desperate to call the season quicker than Ann Budge laps up praise.

Instead they bottled it and apparently it was so UNFAIR.

I think the prefix ‘jam’ will become superfluous.

Look up ‘bottled it’ in a dictionary and it will just say: see Heart of Midlothian FC.

Must be a sore one when the 'wee team' enters a competition at a later date than you've been pumped out of it.

Can we close this thread and Jambottled one?
