I'm not sure how much other things actually affect performance, but if we're assuming opposition fans outnumbering your own fans is a factor in form then away teams still have to contend with a few other things worth considering: travel to the opponents, less comfortable changing rooms, unfamiliar pitch dimensions.

Travel is probably the big one there. I assume it's all done on the day without hotels being open (probably prohibitively costly for our league regardless) so sitting on a bus for an hour or 2 before a game won't be the best preparation. How that fits in with nutrition might also be a factor - again not sure on current restrictions although believe Livingston were criticised for using an empty tony macaroni in Aberdeen.

I've looked at the Scottish Premiership so far;

Rangers - average 3 points per game at home and 2.4 points per game away.

Celtic - average 2.2 points per game at home and 2 points per game away.

Hibs - average 1.4 points per game at home and 1.9 points per game away.

Aberdeen - average 1.8 points per game at home and 1.1 points per game away.

Livingston - average 1.3 points per game at home and 1.4 points per game away.

St Johnstone - average 1.2 points per game at home and 1.2 points per game away.

St Mirren - average 1.1 points per game at home and 1.3 points per game away.

Dundee Utd - average 1.4 points per game at home and 1 point per game away.

Motherwell - average 0.9 points per game at home and 1.2 points per game away.

Ross County - average 0.9 points per game at home and 0.8 points per game away.

Kilmarnock - average 1.1 points per game at home and average 0.6 points per game away.

Hamilton - average 0.8 points per game at home and 0.9 points per game away.

We are the team in the league with the biggest difference in favour of away points over home points.

That really is interesting.

I wonder what that says about our league campaign next season, assuming that the fans are back in the grounds.

Presumably, our home form will pick up, but will our way results suffer? If not, we could be looking at a very good season.

Not much difference in our home form this year averaging 1.44 points per game compared to 1.47 last year. We are of course a better team. We hit 1.95 under Lennon finishing 4th and 1.42 under Lennon/Heck.

Perhaps we just had some good home form under Lennon when we had a really good season and the others are around Par for us.

Saying that 1.45 points is equivalent to win five, draw one and lose five playing each team in the league. Given there will is usually 7 teams with smaller budgets and this season there are 8 it is a very poor effort imo. I'd expect to get nearer 2.0 most seasons at home and when the fans are back home form is much more important than away form in terms of ST and walk up sales.

Interesting one. It's probably worked both ways for the coaching staff and players as there probably would have been times when the fans would have really got on their backs and times when they had to find that extra push without the fans and relied on the dug out.

Over 19 games, 2 points per game would be 38 points.
11 wins, 5 draws, 3 defeats or 12 wins, 2 draws and 5 defeats.

Considering 4 of those would be Rangers and Celtic that would be a huge effort and would go down as a very good home season.
