Some of you on this forum may know John McCallum, he’s a friend and former work colleague of mine, he’s battling an aggressive cancer and treatment currently available in the UK Will not be sufficient to prevent his death.

He had the opportunity of a transplant performed in Germany, and is trying to raise funds for this.

The story is here:

If anyone is in a position to help, i know it would be massively appreciated.

Appears to be going very well so far, someone donated £2200. Hope the guy beats it and makes a full recovery.

That's amazing, eh?

I hope so as well, he's not an old guy, got a young family etc. Wouldn't wish it on anyone.

No. he doesn't post on here at all, chief (he's actually a St Mirren fan, to be honest, but don't hold that against him!)

Thanks to everyone who has shared or donated, this is a tough time for John and his family.

Donated earlier today, Matty.

I hope the funding appeal gets to the desired total, and your friend's treatment is successful.

Best to him and his family.

Just giving this a wee bump.

From what I can see, the latest update is that going to Germany is no longer an option and the poor bloke is sort of on the home straight. Absolutely horrible to read, brings back memories of my best mate who passed away similarly young a couple of years ago.

Cancer really is a ******* - donation made regardless :agree:

I also see that one Ronald Gordon just donated 3.5k. Would have to assume that's our Ronald Gordon and if so, what a gesture.

Latest update, such a shame:

Hi everyone, hope you're all well.
Just a short update today. Unfortunately the clinical trial didn't work for John and the cancer has spread to his lungs. His liver is having a tough time just now and we're making sure he's as comfortable as possible and spending time together as a family. Going to Germany is sadly no longer an option.
We're hoping to use the money that you've all graciously donated to help other people in similar situations, but for now I'll keep the fundraising page open.
Thanks again to you all ❤

Heartbreaking to hear.

I've just made a small donation and hopefully money can continue to be raised, it won't replace a father or husband but hopefully it may ease some of the financial burden the family may face going forward.
