Moneyfields!
That was one of the worst away grounds to go to in the Wessex League (4 divisions down from the Conference). I remember it most for an 80+ year old supporter trying to pick a fight with 8 of us Andover Town supporters after we laughed when a linesman owned him.

74 games for Ecuador and 26 goals for his country.
Nowhere near Vine levels.
He even scored for Hibs in 12 games.

Kuqi was done two seasons before he came to ER. He had spent a season at my home town club, Crystal Place, and his performances and attitude stunk. I remember posting on here, when we were chasing his signature, giving all the info I had gotten from my Eagle pals but I got told to give him a chance. He had been a decent enough player but the appetite for the game had gone along with his legs.

Nice bloke but was absolutely f-in hopeless for us on the pitch. No-where near the worst ever for us though - Shefi Kuqui easily beats him to that dishonour in the forward positions, whereas from the same team, Michael Nelson was quite probably the most useless huddy I've ever seen slice a ball into touch for us.

Because we were desperate, and an appallingly badly run shambles at that point?
He should never have been a Hibs player. Not even close to the standard we required at that point, hence - deserved relegation.

I guess you can look at it career wise and form wise when they came to Hibs or both..

Michael Nelson was six out of ten for us before Butcher took over. He put in some decent, if not particularly stylish, performances and was organised and an aerial threat. Never backed down from a 50/50 at that point either.

Zoubir would have flourished in a better Hibs team. Hes still playing at a good level now and had been in the Europa league a few times.
Vine was honking and so was Michael Nelson. Nelson is the only player ive ever heard being cheered off after being sent off v partick in a 1-1 draw under Butcher slap bang in the middle of that run. His performances were a disgrace but he wasnt alone in that..

I didn't mind Nelson. He was very limited, but was reasonable at what he did best - just being a big, ugly stopper.
That season our problems weren't so much about the defending but about the creation and taking of chances and scoring goals. If the defence did lose a goal (which they weren't good enough not to do from time to time) then the forwards were so brutal that we had no way of getting back into the game.
The recruitment during the summer before that season was as bad as it's ever been, and as bad as Vine was, he and Collins had very little service. We'd been relying on Cairney and Harris to provide that and they were both injured for large chunks of the season, so we had the likes of Liam Craig being stuck out on the right wing.
Horrible times. Makes me grateful for being able to be critical of a team 3rd in the league tbh.

Listened to it this morning. I assume there is a second part next week as he was still at Birmingham when it ended. No mention of Hibs.
He came across as a bit of an *rse who (so far) who seems to have fallen out with every manager. Entertaining pod cast though.
With regard to his time at Hibs, I was delighted when he signed. The previous season he was the best away player at Easter Road when they beat us (I think)
3-1. So much so I had to look up who he was because he was so good that day.
The second best away player was Owain Tuder Jones for Inverness who totally bossed our midfield. I had to check to see who he was as well.
Shows what I know about footballers although it seems wee Pat must have noticed as well because he signed them both.
Re Michael Nelson, he always gave 100% and didn't pick himself. I remember a game against Celtic when he had a really bad clash of heads just in front of the dugout. They bandaged him up and he spent the rest of the game winning headers.

Obviously we hope all signings work out but I just really took to him and hoped something would click but even I have to admit he was an abysmal signing for Hibs. Johansson did score in a friendly against Dunfermline in a pre season, so it might be that goal you remember
I remember being in Amsterdam for a Scotland game in 2009 and having a punt on JJ for 1st scorer v Wales that helped pay for some of the bevvies! 🍺
11 years to the day later my mum died which is an unfortunate coincidence 😢
