Played a lot of games for QPR as well.
Not seen him since he left the managers job at Norwich a decade ago.
RIP

I think he had been ill for some time. He was a more than decent player. RIP Glenn

He's been battling illness on and off for years.

Done a pretty good job as manager at Newcastle all things considered. He was just a bit unfortunate that the fans ire directed at Freddy Shepherd at the time also ended up aimed at him.

65 is no age now. RIP.

He was the captain of the Newcastle team when I was living in that city and a very good player too. He used to do this thing called the "Roeder Shuffle" when running with the ball. I saw him do it many a time and still didn't have a clue what he was doing!

Very sad news indeed. What I remember from watching him he was a classy player who liked to try and play football the right way instead of lumping it. Battled and fought a long struggle with illness. Hope you are finally at peace. RIP Glenn.

Yes, he was first diagnosed with a brain tumour almost twenty years ago. By all accounts he was one of the nicest guys in the game; all the tributes from players and managers would support that. Only 65 and had battled for many years. RIP.

Sad news indeed. Glenn was a very classy and cultured defender. I remember he had a terrific step-over (maybe the Roeder Shuffle referred to above). Saw him a few times when he was loaned out by QPR to Notts County. In just four games he completely transformed a struggling side. The fans were so impressed they had a fund set up to buy him permanently.

Unfortunately for Notts it didn't happen and there's probably a shoebox of old tenners and kids' pocket money still in the Meadow Lane vaults somewhere.

Seemed like a good man and professional too, well-liked. Rest in Peace.

RIP, he was a great defender of his time. He would be sought after in the current era. As a manager he wasn't too bad either.
