I'm hoping Livi go off the rails sometime soon but they're not showing any signs of it so far.

Livis run will stop sometime soon and they will be close to us, but we've got enough quality to keep us going.

I thin ww will get better. On current form youd say Livi could do it. Next couple of games could tell us.

Right now I’ve got my doubts but I think if we beat Dundee United on Saturday it’ll give me a bit more confidence.
Huge game on Saturday in terms of how we will end the season IMO.

Voted yes and I think we will. Probably spluttering over the line a point or two ahead of Livingston.
if we don’t finish top 4, along with two gutless hampden displays, it’s really unacceptable.

I think the squad is too strong to not finish top four. Not as confident as I would like to be though.

Top 4 is losers mentality. 4th should be the minimum we finish. 3rd should be the aim

We could give our chances a real boost by winning the next two games while Aberdeen and Livi play each other.
Hopefully we give it a good go.

Absolute nonsense. Its a realistic target.

So we shouldn't even bother targeting finishing above an average Aberdeen side, after all the backing we've had in the transfer windows? Aye ok then, as I say, losers mentality:aok:

We can target what we want but our form isn't backing up the big talk. We need to fix that first.
Win our next game and take it from there.

This weekend is huge. If we win then I think we’ll do it but it’ll be a battle. Get beat and I’d have Livi as favourites.

We'll pick up again. We'd be clear in second if we'd kept up early season form. That was never likely.

No, I don't.
We look like a poor side who got a few results early in the season.
Livi look like a good side who started slowly.
I have faith that the defence might sort itself out but the lack of goals is worrying.
We miss Newell and need him back in the team.
I reckon Ross needs to stumble across a team and formation, a bit like Stubbs did with the diamond, and it might involve 4 or 5 big players sitting out.
Not sure how anyone can look at the way we're playing and think our lead is enough to hold off Livi.

I would like to be optimistic concerning the recent bad run we are on and the next two games could define our season problem is we can’t score simple as that. Hopefully we can bring in another striker before the window closes otherwise we won’t finish better than 5th hope I am wrong.

Given there are only 12 or so games to play, you would like to think we will. However, there are valid question marks against that, based on the recent form of Hibs and Livi. I have my doubts, but also realise it would take an almighty capitulation for us to end up 5th
A test of the character of the players and savvy of the manager. Given the quality of player we have it would be a bit scandalous if we blew it.

On current form we'll be lucky to make the top 6 . If we can get back to early season form maybe

Playing rangers twice and Celtic once in our last 6? Games has clouded people’s thoughts Imo.
We are a good team, have recruited well this January and aren’t finished and have some of our better players returning from injury.
Our form will pick up and we’ll go on a good run, I’ve no doubt.
Livingston are doing unbelievable right now but their luck will come to an end, the boy Robinson is hopefully but has someone became a goal machine. That will end.

We're in a real slump just now and it's not always easy to get out of it.
You have to think that Livingston's form will tail off eventually, if it doesn't then they'll finish 3rd, not 4th and they'll deserve it.
I think we need to beat Dundee Utd and St Mirren and hope that, ideally, Livingston and Aberdeen draw both games.
If we don't take full points then it will be hard to see us finishing top 4.

If one thing is guaranteed it will be that my nerves will be shredded from now until the end of the season.
Agree that Ross needs to find a winning solution pronto. I think we will also just limp over the line but wouldn’t be at all surprised if Livi took 4th. On current form they may even potentially take 3rd.
Every game is huge now. If JR is a decent manager he’ll figure out what we need to do to find a winning formula. If he doesn’t then he’ll be managing in the lower devisions again soon, assuming he doesn’t win the SC!
I wish him and the team well.

I actually think we'll finish third. Aberdeen are hardly on a great run themselves.
With players coming back to fitness, Cadden and Irvine being added in Jan and Daz looking outstanding I think we'll start to really kick on from Saturday.

Playing Celtic and Rangers 3 times in our last 6 and 2 of the other games being our worst performances of the season aren’t helping folks judgement here.
We’ve actually over the course of the season been consistent against the teams below us and as others have mentioned we’ve added 2 very good players so far this window, plus Allan is back and JR is suggesting we’re still looking to bring in more.
We need to win the next two games but if we do that then we’ll have a huge game at home to Aberdeen where a win could see us with a bit of a lead in 3rd nevermind 4th. Aberdeen have 4 games against Livi and Celtic before the split so we should be able to pick up more points than them in that time

The Rangers and Celtic performances and results were amongst our most decent, though we still didn't manage a win in the 3 and Celtic were massively understrength.
The Killie result gives a bit of hope but the performance really wasn't great. The defence did their bit and we managed to take a couple of chances. Some of the other games have been just brutal, and they're the ones I'm basing this on.
Half our games will be at home, where we have a shocking record and a pitch that's near impossible to play football on.
The first half hour against St Johnstone also gave cause for a bit of optimism but ultimately we created little and didn't do anything with what we created.
We haven't played well since the United game, and even then we managed to chuck away 2 points by being careless.
Allan coming back, Newell coming back in. They are our biggest hopes.
Cadden looked good last night.
I think we look very poor when we are expected to be on the front foot, which we will expect to be against teams other than Rangers and Celtic.
Interesting that Aberdeen and Celtic aren't looking much more convincing than we are. Whilst we're looking over our shoulders and struggling, those just ahead don't appear to be pulling away either.
We might scab 4th by virtue of being less crap than Aberdeen.

I agree with much of what you say although, as it stands, I still think we’ll finish fourth. We have better players than most teams so we will pick up some wins along the way.
On the bit about Ross needing to find a formation, I agree. I think our strongest team probably doesn’t include all the best players now if that makes sense. Which, for me, comes back to not signing players with a clear idea of how they fit together. What our strongest team is, I don’t know.

Thoughts haven't changed since start of the season. We've a chance of 4th but if it comes to a tight fight with Livi or another team, this Hibs team will collapse. The team flat-out lacks character, leadership and motivation.

Probably just. Don’t see Livi carrying on like this. And I think they’ll drop points against Aberdeen (not a great thing for us) and I think we will beat Dundee Utd, as they’re hopeless.

No.....Like a few other posters have suggested, i think we're lacking bottle at present. Our current form is awful.
Most teams in this league have shown they can outperform us on the day, and I'm sure a few will be snapping at our heels in couple of weeks time if we don't lift our game.

Top 4 is losers mentality. 4th should be the minimum we finish. 3rd should be the aim
There's been a lot of discussion around this and I don't think anyone will be dancing about celebrating a fourth place finish. That said, in terms of league position a fourth place finish would be demonstrably punching our weight - which the majority of Hibs teams have abjectly failed to do over the decades.
So - 4th place while not any reason break open the bubbly IS a relative success whether you care to admit it or not.
NB - 3rd place is still not out of the question - or even 2nd if Celtic had a total collapse!
I tip us for fourth though.
