View Full Version : Will we beat Rangers?

Hard to see it after Saturday but nothing's impossible.
I fear we could go down badly after a bright start and maybe even score first but out fragilities will show up.
1-5 is my from the head prediction. 2-1 from the heart........

Seems like the sort of thing Hibs would do after Saturday 😉

Cant see it though, think we’ll get thumped pretty convincingly.

Hope so 🤞We were the first team to score against them last time at ER.
Could we be the first to beat them 🤨Just be like us after the shocker on Saturday.

Nope. Wouldn’t be surprised if there was only a goal or two in it but can’t see us beating them.

Was only a month ago that we did pretty well against them. If we score first we might have a chance. If they score first we’ll likely cave in.

Our performances against the gruesome twosome have been ok.

It would be so Hibs to beat them after that debacle last Saturday. I’ll say 2-1.

I think we might avoid your from the head prediction but there's every chance we'll take a doing. Rangers have all but sewn up the league so will have no qualms about playing an open game. Couple of quick goals to kill us off and then see out the game in relaxed fashion. 0-3 would be my prediction.

Know what you mean. Obviously I want us to win but the 'we owed the fans one' stuff always rings hollow to me in these sort of post-debacle scenarios. If they owed us anything it was to show they'd learned from the disappointment of losing the Hearts semi by winning the St Johstone game. On that score they failed dismally.

Not a chance. Rangers are the best team in the league this year and after the performances over the last weeks, not a hope, although this is Hibs and stranger things have happened, but not this time

Our performances and the home result v Rangers have been positives this season.

However the respective form of the current teams and the confidence that does or doesn't breed makes this a tough ask.

1-3 Rangers.

4-0 Hibs

I will go for 2 -2.

If we beat Rangers I'll be even more angry about Saturdays shambles.

Me as well, but it would be absolutely typical Hibs to get at least a draw after that hour of utter dross at Hampden. However, looking at the current form of both teams I'm just hoping the Currant Buns take their foot off the gas at 0 - 3 and I suspect so is Jack Ross.

100% want bibs to fly out the traps and take early lead we could be in with a shout, but in my head our defense plays as bad as Saturday and I think we could get pretty embarrassed. Which could be the final straw for JR but I hope we win!!

Jim44
27-01-2021, 05:33 AM
All I want is a decent performance all round, lots of effort and passion, even if the final result is a formality. Rangers are strong odds on favourites and won’t lose this one. A good performance could set us up for the next few matches.

No. Probably not the hammering some fear, but can see a goal in each half from Rangers and nothing from us. Position in the league says we’re close, performances put us quite far apart I fear.

I never cease to get well up for Hibs v The Rangers games. They will never forget that day in May.

I’m the same.

I know I’m a miserable ******* about Hibs but I’m looking forward to tonight, even if I think we’ll get pumped.

Walked past Easter Road yesterday with the dog and it struck me how much I can’t wait to get back there. Almost started getting a bit emotional 😂

Guess it depends who adapts quickest on the terrible surface unless the groundsman has worked wonders in the last week or so.

JR really does need a win though to prove he can win a "big" game and taking their unbeaten league run would be a start after the 2 semi final shockers....and as others have said it would
be typical Hibs to finally put in a performance......however i`m gonna go for 0-3

I think the huns think they are going to finish the season unbeaten. They need to win all their games to match the Celtc invincible team who got 106 points. There is an article on BBC about this and the murmurings of that that has seeped into their forums, it is the exact right time for Hibs to pull off a win against them.

Now I have said that we will probably get humped 0-4 , but I hold out hope for us sneaking a wee 2-1 or 1-0.

Even if they do they'll never be truly invicible as they got knocked out the League Cup whereas Brendan Rodgers team also won all the cups.

3-0 at Ibrox under Calderwood shows that anything can happen.

Keith_M

Think of the facts here:

We've accumulated less points at ER than away from home this season, so playing at home is a disadvantage.

Since boxing Day, we've been well beaten by such leading lights as Ross County (0-2), Livingston (0-3) and St Johnstone (0-3). Even the manager admitted we're going through a slump

The Rangers are currently unbeaten in the league, having won 22 and drawn 3. They've scored 65 goals and conceded 7

The Rangers are unbeaten in Europe, having already played nine games, including Benfica, Standard Leige and Galatasary.

Of course we're going to win!

I always recall a SC Semi Final defeat against Dundee United. IIRC, we were well on top only to throw it away, losing 2-1.

I recall the young guys on the bus confident that we would win the next game away at Tiny, whereas I was pretty confident that it was going to be another Derby Day defeat. We ended up winning 1-0, think it was the Casper game!

I can only see a heavy defeat tonight, but I've been wrong many times before.

Absolutely no reason why we can’t beat Rangers tonight. They’re not as unbeatable as people think and we actually do have some good talent in that squad. But what we are desperate for is a reaction after Saturday’s embarrassing disaster and those previous performances. We are far too nice and have been lacking leadership.

Ross needs to get some fight into that team pronto. I want to see our skipper in the refs ear, talking to his defence at set pieces, a foot being left in now and then by our players, a yellow if need be, plenty shouting at each other. Some passion. 3 points is very possible tonight but waken up Hibs ffs.
