Null and void, not enough games been played to do points per game so no promotion or relegation, it's the only way :greengrin

Genuinely not just saying this because it’s Hearts, but if that league is wrapped up now then it’s nowhere near deep enough in to call it as it is. Leave the top tier to play with no relegation.

I agree, if the Premiership can make it to the split we should consider calling it then.

Thing is, the players wouldn't have played for seven months if that was the case. They should postpone any promotions or relegations from that league for an additional season, just in the interests of fair play. Also Steven Naismith can only ask the referee for a penalty if he does it in a high pitched woman's voice.

It's not realistic to expect the likes of Arbroath to spend huge figures on testing every week. It can't be realistic or viable for a club like them who are run well and shouldn't have to run themselves into the ground.

Surely the only sensible way to deal with this is to set up a task force led by someone with previous for leading one in situations like this.
Mrs doctor Budge would be the ideal person, suspend the Championship until her provisional draft interim report is delive5by 2023 and if Hearts don't like it they can get their state agent and gasman to sue her.

Neilson is a bell end and an absolutely crap manager. Anyone could have won that league last year with Shankland in that Utd team. This year he’s had a budget at least 5 times any other team and still been tactically out thought by Stevie Crawford and James McPake to the extent that Hearts fans were dying on the final whistle to put them out their misery at East End and Dens Park.

Yes. Can't call Championship with promotion/relegation but continue Premiership. If ending Championship now but continuing Premiership then it has to be no promotions or relegations but can give out prize money based on current places.
I don't have a problem with Hearts being promoted based on current position but I don't think it's right for clubs to go down on so few games.
If we finish the prem I don't have a problem with the bottom team going down and Hearts going up.
Edit: Although I do see the problem that gives in terms of being perceived to favour the 'big' teams. A competent governing body would have set all the permutations out in advance.

Bingo. There was always a chance that this season wouldn't run smoothly. Contingency plans should have been made and publicised so that no one can call foul or say they weren't told if we can't complete the season.

Ironic that their supposed "friends" Inverness have turned out to be the club calling for the suspension.
I can see the logic and precedent of calling the season if 75% of games have been played in the Premier League and that may well be the outcome for us, but given that the Championship has already been curtailed to 75% from the outset, surely they will have to complete their full program of 27 games or else null and void is the only option down there?

Cant happen automatically (even if that would be neater).
Thing is, the SPFL knew they couldnt foresee every eventuality - hence they asked in Oct for the clubs to give them carte blanche to make decisions without having to get a full vote on every nut and bolt.
Too many clubs were unhappy with that (and its nailed on that our pink chums were one of them) so we are broadly back in the same situation we were last summer.
Thats on the clubs, not the SPFL exec.

If the Scottish Cup is cancelled this season, I assume 3rd place would get the Europa League 3rd qualifying round with 4th and 5th place getting Europe League conference 2nd qualifying round?
I think the competition will be completed anyway but it would be a bigger reward for finishing 3rd if it did work out that way.

Thoughts I’ve had so far today -
Morretti or Staropramen for this afternoons game? Local supermarket has good offers on both.
Will I manage to get round the ‘one visit per day’ restrictions at the local tip if I wear change hats and jacket for a double visit?
Beef or chicken to put in slow cooker for tonight’s dinner?
Will the championship be abandoned?
Where did I leave my daughters dance shoes?
Will any of our new recruits start today?

I want the championship to continue and the winners promoted. Hearts and Dundee bring more to to the league than Hamilton and co. The government has provided each championship club £500k to help them get testing down and run their clubs to the end of the season. If the pandemic gets worse, god forbid, then maybe we look at scrapping the season but then it would be sensible to look to restructure the leagues with full time teams with under soil heating and no plastic pitches in the top league. The economy is going into meltdown this year and I doubt that many clubs will come close to having the same income for the next couple of seasons. Players will find that contracts for 3 years on £1.5k-£3k will not be available to the majority. We are moving into even stranger times and Scottish football should start preparing now for the massive economic fright that coming. But we won’t, we will continue with our partisan way of looking at everything as the game in Scotland contracts even further.

Its Europe league playoff round for 3rd in that scenario.
As there are no reigning champs from the conference league to automatically get a group stage place, a few lucky countries got bumped up a round.
3rd place (or cup) in Scotland guarantees group stage, European football. Its a huge prize really

As millions die and hundreds of millions starve because of the pandemic, the only thought on people's minds is will the championship in Scotland be abandoned.
Just been on pandemic.net, and there is not one mention of the Scottish championship that i can see.

As millions die and hundreds of millions starve because of the pandemic, you have managed to find the time to read a football forum discussion and condemn the participants for not thinking about the pandemic victims.
So, only you and you alone, are capable of multi-tasking?

Hundreds of millions were starving before the pandemic and will still be starving after it.
Talking football is a nice distraction from that reality.

Null and void the championship. Has to happen.
I’d give up European football for all leagues to be called null and void if I’m being honest. A couple of games against non European giants before getting thumped by someone decent is a price I’d pay for the the Rangers seethe:greengrin

Hope you're OK there friend. Sound like you're suffering.
It was tongue in cheek aimed at the Hearts. They want the league to go on no matter how great the risks are. The big problem is not testing but the part time teams who have wider contact with people outside their families. Given the period between infection and detection is up to 14 days, weekly testing is of no use. The whole of the Championship could be infected quickly. Think the championship will be closed down soon. Looking like null and void.
Whilst sorry for the other teams, it is more Karma and enjoying the further meltdown of their fans and thenext Budge statements when they come.
PS thanks for your concern but things here in the Philippines are much better than in Scotland. Keep safe everyone and GGTTH

Having read these posts have I misread the story?
Scottish Championship: No call for pause as clubs asked if they want to continue playing - BBC Sport (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55684189)
No one has even asked for it to be called off, the word used was suspended?
4 pages on a nothing story????

Suspension with 10 games played and the Euros coming up does not leave much time to have a season that is not null and void

What's the euros got to do with anything?
They are playing a 27 match league. Should they need to play into June, or even July in these unprecedented times then why not? I concur with the poster quoted, it seems this is a bit of a nothing thread. Suspended for a few weeks and restart if it stops at all.

To put a wee bit of perspective...
Despite the name FH like me has relatives in Brazil.
The situation there is tragic - people dying in Manaus run of oxygen due to the ineptitude of their deranged right wing president.
Obviously the covid situation is terrible but if you dont want to see football discussions or think folk should be discussing football then dont come on a fans forum?

The authorities will not want anything to interfere with Euros, possible covid outbreaks etc. Secondly, the championship can't over run as it impacts planning and preparation for next season's premiership - same as last season when the leagues could not be extended.

Thanks Viva_Palmerais. I actually have a lot of relations in the city of Sao Paulo and several have died as a result of the pandemic. But the post was meant as a tongue in cheek go at Hearts. Never expected so many people to take it at face value.

The "why not?" is that many players will be out of contract at the end of May, making it difficult to play in June. And July would impact on the start of next season.
The three lower leagues need to complete two full rounds of fixtures before they can be completed. It would be ridiculous if teams had only met once as that would give a competitive advantage to the home team (eg Hearts over Ayr).

If they were to try legal action again I think the SFA would be a lot less understanding than they were last time. We are Hibs fans so quite happy to see them suffer but I think there was bit of sympathy for them last time round.....its a different world now to what it was then, other clubs and fans will want to see them crucified.
FWIW I don't think the SPL is far off a suspension. There might not be many rules being broken but things like Celtic's wee holiday have created a perception that football is setting a bad example to the public.....and given its high profile, Government might yet step in to stop it until the numbers are back under control.

Just catching up on the various statements etc.
I don't know the best way forward for football in relation to covid, too hard a question for me.
But what is clear to me yet again is the latest SFA communication is another example of Scottish football being run by incompetents. How the Invisible Man Ian Maxwell got the top job on the basis of running a £3m turnover club like Partick Thistle eluded me at the time - and nothing since has changed my mind. Does not seem to even have the basic skill of picking up a phone to speak to anyone.

Thank you. Actually the numbers of cases and deaths per million are worse in Scotland/UK. The actual numbers in Brazil are huge because of the population size. Particularly in the more isolated urban centres there is an inadequate health system. And as I've Palmeiras mentioned the president is a Brazilian version of Trump. But like hear football matters and helps people get through this disaster. Family are all looking forward to the all Sao Paulo State South American final.
