I realise that it wouldn't happen, but I can't help wishing that the people who are spreading the nonsense about empty hospitals and Covid being a hoax, would get taken around a couple of Covid wards, in the clothes they wore to film the quiet areas which presumably means no masks.

They must know that what they're saying is misrepresentating the truth so why are they doing it?

My Dad rabbits on about how every single Hibs game in the 1950s was watched by 60,000 fans. No matter how much evidence I put to him, he sticks firmly to that assertion.

I will never understand these people. Never. There seems to be a sect of people in this world that no matter how much the evidence is slapping them around the face they will stick to their guns.

I think something to do with the perception that changing your mind is a sign of weakness that is perpetuated in business and especially in the media is responsible for it. For example, Government makes a decision; Government changes decision and gets lambasted for U-turn, flip flopping etc etc.

I feel that people with the ability to change their mind and concede a position are much, much stronger than those who do the opposite.

It's an issue that I hope has come to a head with Trumpian/Brexit/COVID politics and will start to change. I think that ****ing worm Michael Gove has a lot to do with it in the UK, by saying the people have had enough of experts.

If the Daily Mail (for example) is your only source of news why would you believe anything else. Also clicking on the comments section and finding others with the same small minded opinions only reenforce that you are correct.

Don’t want to be argumentative for the sake of it, but Im surprised at how few ‘I could play a bit myself’ posts there are, to be honest. If you start your sentence off with the classic ‘Anyone who has played the sport at any serious level knows...’ that does the trick :greengrin

So they share it and the cycle starts again, and before you know it theres an undercurrent of it amongst whole swathes of people. Then in the interests of balance the BBC have to bring on someone who's an expert on climate change and a climate denying ****ing lunatic, and it gets in to more people.

My boy has taught me a load of ‘peng skills’ that didn’t exist in the plastic sondico ball era. I can now do a decent rabona into the hydrangea bushes. I think my knee ligament damage has made some of these moves easier.

My issue with managers was always our different outlook on on how the game should be played, I could handle getting beat as long as I got a few nutmegs in or scored goal of the season, they never saw it that way haha

If you're going to hold views like that, you're not going to be taken seriously so a thick skin is required if you intend repeating them on social media.

We don't comment on individual bans but let's be clear, no one is banned for having an alternative view. You only have to read through the various boards on the site to see that.

However as a site we have to strike a balance between allowing free speech and platforming views which are inerently offensive and potentially dangerous. We are under no obligation to allow people to champion alt right or Qanon theories.

Likewise very few people are ever banned without warning. If someone is banned for the tone or style of their posts rather than the content then the chances are they will have had several warnings, probably starting off fairly friendly and then progressing through the more formal infraction system. If someone has multiple accounts then chances are we are aware of it and it's dealt with.

Without commenting directly on individual bans I think that covers pretty much everyone you are concerned about.
