We seem to have an uncanny knack of sourcing players that are either injured when they sign, or are injury-prone, which in turn impacts onto our bench where we have zero depth and no game changers - tonight was one example, the semi-final was another. What was McGinn going to offer when he came on?
We have a pedestrian enough midfield as it is, there's no hard runners in there prepared to do the dirty work, and if Newell isn't at it, or has nothing to hit in the shape of a an anonymous, static Doidge, then the game's a bogey.
That midfield tonight was redolent of one of Fenlon's insipid line-ups with zero penetration and no guile. We had nobody wanting to mix it either with Vigurs or their midfield three, and if I can see it surely Ross and Mathie can see it?
