Jim Goodwin doing what Sir Alex used to do ahead of games against Rantic.

St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin: "I think I'm right in saying Rangers are the only team in the Premiership who haven't had a penalty given against them and sometimes subconsciously it can play on the minds of officials.

"You just hope that if we are to have one of those decisions tomorrow that they go in our favour and the referees are brave enough to make the calls needed.

Good for him. We are all sick to death of the incompetence of our referees so maybe a wee comment here and there by managers on this topic will go a long way to fair decisions given against these gunts. :aok:

Maybe if JR had came out with a similar comment we would have been awarded the stonewaller, good luck to then

he can point to our game at the weekend when he tells the beeks that what he meant to say was "they're all cheating pricks".

Good for him, more people need to speak out and challenge the obvious bias that help maintain the status quo.

Goodwin comes across as a decent guy and his team play a reasonable style of football, hope the Saints can ram another one right up the Hun before their game v Celtic.

Good on him. Not scared to say what he thinks and doesn’t pander to Celtic or rangers

I’ve been in his company a few times. He always struck me as very intelligent in comparison to your average footballer.

I think we had a great call for a pen in the home match as well.

Good egg Jim, I’m pretty sure he was quite complimentary in his post match interview last time we played St Mirren.

Well done him - he must have been watching our game against der Hun where Colum absolutely shat out of doing his job and gifted Rangers 2 points.

Fair play to him. Will put a seed of doubt into the officials mind and maybe help them not miss blatant penalty claims.

He was a horrible player but off the park he seems a decent guy and he's a good manager as well.

I'm not sure this calling out refs really works, no one done it more than Lennon at Hibs and we were on the end of countless shockers. I'm not sure anyone in authority really cares and I think fans misunderstand what the critique of performances by the ref supervisors actually entails.

Well done Goodwin. He’s doing a smashing job with St Mirren and is calling the OF out as they should be.

Absolutely hated the guy as a player! As a manager though I appear to have more time for him! Spot on with comments.

A subtle hint may work and won't do any harm.Lennon openly attacked refs anfmd that is more likely to turn them against you imo.

Said for a while I really rate Goodwin as a manager. St Mirren play decent football.

They have Alan Muir as ref tonight, we will have to wait and see if the tactic works.

Likewise - good guy just want nippy on the park and hated to lose.

He can’t stand Hearts and played through pain / a calf injury to make sure he helped win the cup agains them.

If Ross moves on Goodwin would be a decent replacement as he knows how to set up a team.

St Mirren were awarded a penalty against The Rangers in the League Cup tie . So there can’t be a rule against it - yet. :greengrin

He is right to call out bravery, rather than call out making the right decisions.

I can't get over how sound a bloke he is. Shouted myself hoarse at him when he was a player more than once!
