This clown of a ref at it again yesterday. A penalty given to Aberdeen right on half time changed the game Not even Derek McInnes knew why it was a penalty. Our refs are a laughing stock & this guy's the worst of the lot.

The worst referee ever. Takes ineptitude to new levels.

I've just seen the Ross Draper sending off yesterday. Shocking decision. You can add Colin Stephen to the Scottish Refs roll of dishonour.

Agreed, should never have been one yellow, never mind two!

See with guys like them, you can just tell from looking at them that they’ve never kicked a ball in their life. Given a rule book but don’t actually have a clue about football.

Muir was the ref who allowed the Falkirk player to play basketball in their box in the play off game. Can remember Craigan arguing it wasn't a pen :faf::faf:

That's fair enough but it's really difficult to get ex players into refereeing, they've been trying to encourage it for years.

That's spot on. You can tell they have no feel or empathy for the game or for players. I always cut Bobby Madden and Stevie (2 3) McLean a bit slack because they talk to the players as equals, not as naughty schoolboys.

I don't think the OP was necessarily referring to ex pros, just kicking a ball at any level.

When a Sunday pub league standard referee like Andrew Dallas or Willie Collum can referee top flight games or even cup finals then you just know that there's something seriously untoward in the recruitment process.

I'd say it's like a lottery, but it's more like a lottery where they've taken out some of your numbers so the best you can hope for is three numbers and a tenner.

Aye, that is what I meant. This might sound like I’m trying to stereotype or whatever, but they’re just guys who look out of place in the environment that they find themselves in.

I'd be up for some form of VAR in Scotland only if it was run by a player for each game who has nothing to do with either side, and in a non intrusive manner.

In Formula 1, a different ex driver each race weekend helps decide on penalties for infringements of the rules. It means that there's an understanding of why a driver has made a certain action before deciding on what to do and although it doesn't always lead to the right decision it's far better than someone who has never raced wheel to wheel making a less informed decision.

Something like that here would be beneficial.

Maybe we should invest in VAR and then we would see how good or bad refs are.

Fair enough didn't know about that. Still remains a fact though that's it's the exception rather than any sort of norm.

VAR is an interpretation of the rules and does **** all to help clear things up.

You'd have the exact same people that we currently moan about (Collum, Dallas, Muir) in charge of a process that nobody has much faith in right now. The only thing that should be brought in is goal line technology. The ball crossing the line is a matter of scientific fact. Everything else is an interpretation of rules that were not written to be put under a microscope.

Seen the highlights of the incident quite simply Muir is an imposter and should be a million miles away from the professional game

On a separate matter I looked at Aberdeen bench yesterday & there were 5/9 names I didn't recognise, it was so weak they brought Ojo on!! No sign of McCrorie, I assume suspended or injured but it was only a few weeks ago we were being told their strength in depth was much better than ours. Now I know we "only" had 7 on the bench on Saturday but I'm sure the neutral would have known all bar Bradley. Given we were without Rocky, Mackie, Allan, Mallan, Doidge. Magennis & Murphy & still had Louis, Darren, SDG, Gullan & the final McGinn on the bench then I think our squad strength stands up to anyone in the top flight outside of the uglies.

might be killing the game, but, we would have had a penalty for the kick in the chops against huns, mind you, he might have interpreted as an head butt assault on the hun player and red carded Newell.

Didn’t Sean Murdoch go down that route after hanging up the gloves?
