Both were decent, Liam Henderson to deliver seems iconic until you realise Crocker says it for every set piece almost.

Crocker 100%

The words 'Henderson to deliver' are legendary

and

'Hibs are standing on the brink of history'

and

'What kept you Hibs?'

I'll take these to my grave.

God bless that man

Love them both. Iconic from Crocker and if I had to get one of them tattooed it would be Crockers but the sheer emotion from LM gives me chills.

Thanks for the heads up, I have heard that and quite enjoyed Cowan's double standards when moaning about exuberance compared to Wembley and his own club's support after beating Sevco.

The most ironic thing in my life was 13 days later my son was born and the midwife was called Louise Henderson. Baby is coming and automatically in my head while ****ing myself I thought what a moment this is...

It’s actually true too. He was born June 3 16. The only reason I didn’t run ok the pitch. I would be the one that got arrested and she would have killed me.

Off topic a bit but I noticed Hearts fans have been complaining to the BBC about McLeods cup final commentary being biased towards Celtic. What planet do they live on? A whole summer of the BBC's chief sports guy fawning over them and they have the brass neck to complain about one game? Incredible.

then you've Neil Mccann Levein and Preston on every week too. Robbo when he's been sacked. Even Cowan loves the dicks.

Hot take on this - the BBC commentary was a lot better for much of the game but the "Liam Henderson to deliver" and "What kept you, Hibs?" will be the lines that live in the memory. Andy Gray is a pain in the arse and his "disgraceful from the Hibs fans" comments means he can GTF.

Over the piece, definitely McLeod. At one end "Is it on? Is. It. On?", at the other the tear-jerking listing of the ten unlucky captains as Hibs climbed the stairs. Perfect bookends.

While he didn't match the Crocker comm on the striking of the corner and SDG's goal, I think he did something equally special in the build up. He let the drama carry him away. The "wow" when Stokes's shot was saved and the words that followed it, the tone of his voice, really relayed the very special atmosphere that had taken grip. 50,000 humans in a confined space all knew what was about to happen. It probably wasn't conscious on his part but his comm relays that incredible atmosphere.

The little facts at the full time whistle of the other things that happened in 1902 were great too - the vacuum cleaner being invented and the like - in the frenzy of the full time whistle gave an excellent idea of how long it had been.

Yes. Another "wow!" For Sparky's goal. He did seem to dredge up the 2012 Final a bit much back then, although I've noticed our win continues to get mentions, which must rankle over yonder. It's almost as if football supporters are a bunch of babies, really!

Did he bring up it was the year Ann Budge gave her first gam too? If so he's the winner. :agree:

I can't usually stand Liam McLeod, but the moments after the goal swing it - Crocker's is better up until he takes over again from Andy Walker at kick off but after that sounds too scripted, and the 'very special moment for Hibernian Football Club' and 'Scottish sporting history' from McLeod sound more genuine.

Crocker wins it for me, only because McLeod was (maybe rightly) too wrapped up in thinking about Stokes getting his hat-trick.

As an aside, I think both commentators absolutely smashed it with what they said once the goal celebrations had died down, almost simultaneously in fact;

Crocker: 'Hibs could still Hibs this, but surely not now, not even them'
McLeod: 'If Hibs don't win the Scottish Cup from this point, then it will be a new way to torture their supporters'

Whether you think they were snipes at us or not, they were exactly what all of us were thinking at that point, in all honesty :greengrin

Crocker by far. The key moments in the game, he wins hands down. More experienced commentator too.

Both commentators did mention that we couldn’t Hibs it but given it took us so long to win the cup then no wonder.

The clip of the radio commentary popped up on a radio show a year or so back, and like you I had been really keen to hear it. The reality was a big disappointment though - sounded like it was a 56th minute equaliser in a Motherwell v Ross County encounter - nowhere remotely close to the raw emotion of Liam McLeod, Ian Crocker or Cliff Pike.

The after match stuff is radio gold though.

Cliff Pikes voice goes so high pitched that the dogs in my street start barking when I play it.

Don’t really think they were snipes at us, just the reality of the situation. To me it just added to the emotion of a one off occasion which can’t ever be repeated. Sheer theatre⚽️

Crocker's commentary taken in isolation is better. But then you listen to him doing the Caley vs Celtic semi final from the year before and you realise that he's basically just rehashing soundbites and it does take a bit of gloss off it.
