In light of their recent faint hearted attempt to win a genuinely huge game, I think we need to establish some consensus regarding the correct term for this crushing collapse scenario which has become synonymous with the Gorgie club.
So which one is it?
Hearts'd It
Jambo'd It
Jambottled It
Eighty Six'd It

All are good but it has to be jambottled. Just describes it perfectly. As in they only needed to score two more penalties but they jambottled it. Or they only needed a draw at Dens Park but they Jambottled it. Or Craigie not could have played at Dens Park but he jambottled it. Perfect

Only needed a draw against St Mirren to avoid relegation

2-1 up against 9 man Inverness with seconds to go.
Lost on penalties.

I like eighty sixed it. It immortalises their most glorious and most painful failure, one which they are still not over, and will bring back the pain every time it’s mentioned. I think it’s more likely to be picked up by other supporters and media as well so makes most sense.

In the spirit of 86 I think one could say they "Full Alberted it" again on Sunday.

They were 2-0 up with ten minutes to play at home to a lower league club, and they jambottled it.

Kidd’ing us? As in Hearts were Kidd’ing us with that penalty shootout.

"Eighty-sixed it" has a nice ring to it, but it must be remembered that jambottling has a longer history than that. "Sixty-fived it" would also work.

Just for ease of us, I’m becoming fond of Jambo’d it. But all are good.
On the face of it, they were never favourites against a Celtc team who have won so much in recent years. But they got themselves ahead in the penalty shoot out, and then...

One of my fave exits was when they failed to secure a win (v Dunfy iirc) at group stage and had to come out for the penalties anyway. Did they not almost troop off?
They could probably cite their own but it’s Christmas so ££&@ them ;)

They've Jambottled it twice already this season and they've only been playing since October. Absolute banter club.

Jambo after Jambo then went and just ballooned their penalties over the bar. Delicious.

There are four to choose from in the poll, but it is right to have a few to choose from given the wide variety of crushing failures that Hearts can manufacture. It’s very difficult to select one terminology that can cover them all as they are all different in their own way.
Simply select whatever feels appropriate for the chosen failure :agree:
