What are the chances that Ron Gordon, with seeing our chances to win a cup, now spends big in January? I doubt he’ll have a better chance at silverware during his tenure

Eh? Puzzled by that statement to be honest.

I'd like to think Ron sees it as just the start of Hibs challenging for very trophy while he is here and that yes he will allow us to improve the squad in January

I doubt he will be in a semi final against st Johnstone and a possible final vs either livi or st Mirren during his tenure.

That’s the right answer. We’ve been in the last 4 semis so we will have other chances if we continue to build.

Kinda makes sense now that you've explained it. :greengrin Your wording in the OP had me thinking Ron was leaving soon

I don't think its ever in our business plan to spend big, especially as a knee jerk reaction. That's not a good idea.
To recruit wisely yes as with the attempt to get McCrorie and bring in young emerging talent like Nisbet yes.
I'm sure we have plans to strengthen in January and maybe it might make sense to look at loan options too for the rest of the season to help win cups and cement league position.

What it will do imo is make players more tempted to join us as they have potential to win a cup. Only issue is I imagine most in Scottish football we would be after are cup tied, out with SPFL though it’s a good incentive.

Like you say it may give Ron the extra push to fork out an extra pound or two to get his man.

Poor Ron Gordon has probably already worked out that the take we will miss out on from a full Tynecastle and full Hampden ( if we were to make the final ) will lose the club something like half a million quid. Unless a real gem pops up, which rarely happens in the January window, I can't see us or anybody else spending big in January.

Hope I'm wrong obviously.

Will any player signed on January be eligible to play in the Semi. This goes for the other three teams as well off course

I’d be happy spending our January budget, if we have one, on pre-contracts. Would happily spend all our budget securing Campbell for next season, but as that’s still unlikely I think Findlay & Brophy would be good pre-contracts.

Brophy is a funny one, obviously heard of him previously and has 1 cap for Scotland, it's juat that i can't recall seeing him do much. He's only 24 and has a decent goalscoring record over the last few seasons. I think he'd be a good fit at Hibs
