The reason I ask is down to the blip we had during the SF, Aberdeen and St Johnstone games, respectively.

After an excellent start to the season, I could see a different mentality in the team from last season and was really impressed with what I was watching.

However, this place went on meltdown over those couple of weeks and I sincerely felt for a lot of folks mental health due to those results.

The amount of abuse that was aimed at just about everybody and I mean the players and the manager, was very scary to say the least, move on after a couple fantastic wins and JUST about everyone is ecstatic beyond belief and would never have thought there was never a blip in the above mentioned results.

To answer my own question, as a H&A regular for well over 40 years, i'm a realist when it comes to following Hibs. I love it when we go on great runs and great performances and I get pissed off, as we all do when we get beat. No one was more hurting than myself after that SF defeat but after a day or two I analysed the game and on another day, we would and could have won that quite comfortably. However, I never get to the point when one week all is good due to a win and then go off on one the next due to a loss.

The upshot of this post is, after a pretty average November, I've seen enough from earlier performances to suggest that there is more than enough for us to kick-on again to hopefully finish 3rd or at least a definite 4th. If that's where we do eventually finish, for me it will be progress and a job well done.

With not being at games, I think we’re all more able to post during and immediately after games.

When a performance has been sub par, especially if it’s come in either a big or winnable game then I think it’s easier than ever to come on here and make rash posts in the heat of the moment. What might normally be a rant amongst mates becomes stuff written down and when you can feed off the negative vibes of others it can whip up quite an unpleasant storm quite quickly. Normally by the time you get back to the house you’ve calmed down a bit (a bit, depends on the occasion) and can make criticism more constructive.

I’ve certainly contributed more angry rubbish in the heat of the moment this season than during others, and I expect it to stop when I only get posting an hour or so after games have finished.

Typically if a post doesn’t rely on emojis to make its point like a ****ing four year old would write I do read it, yes.

I was hugely down after we lost the semi in the way we did and then throwing the game against Aberdeen so early. My Hibs mojo was very low. Now it is back up as we built ourselves up with draws in the league and wins in the LC and pushing ahead in the league now. Game day always starts in the morning with Hibs' songs and anticipation of viewing Hibs TV.

Reasonably bad joke.

But more on topic, there’s way too much negativity on here and it’s rarely I could consider to go along with that. Back in the Calderwood and Butcher days the level of negativity was probably justified but even in the worst times in the last season or two there’s been very little reason to see the club in a very negative fashion.

In 145 years Hibs have won 10 major trophies, (an average of 1 every 14.5 years) so it's a bit precipitous for any of us to expect Hibs to win a trophy every other year. We are mid level in terms in winning things along with Hearts and Aberdeen.

My expectations are for Hibs to be the top 5 in the league and compete for the cups, but realise that Celtc and the Huns are expected to win the vast majority of the them. They have done for the past 140 years.

Any Hibs fan who expects any better or worse doesn't understand the history of both our club and that of Scottish football in general.

That's quite a defeatist attitude is it not? No reason we shouldn't strive to win trophies on a more regular basis than we have in the past. We've been in 7 cup finals in the last two decades and regular semi finals. 2 trophies in that period, a lot of Hibs fans, myself included, would class as an underachievement.

But it statistically isn't an underachievement, if anything it's been an overachievement.

Squandered opportunities to overachieve even more (Livi 04 and County 16)? Sure.

I'm probably perceived as a moaner on here to an extent, but by my own standards (all relative!) I'd say I'm fairly realistic. I give praise for good performances and wins as they happen, look for positives in defeat, and give credit when it's due when we're ambitious in the transfer market. I like Jack Ross as a manager and on balance we're having a very good season.

The one thing that tends to make me irrational - as many will know by now - is games against Hearts. Our record against them is pathetic; as someone who started following us in 2005 I've seen a brief flash of the tide appearing to turn under Stubbs/Lennon and that's it.

I think you're splitting hairs. We underachieved in those cup finals. Not even up for debate

So what’s the scale we’re measuring to? I’m an Uber fan who identifies as such, but doesn’t have a season ticket so feels as though my opinion is less valid even though I’m a hibs.net pm.

You need to get a season ticket though (and right now by the way or you’re not close to the first Uber fan thing) and that’s pretty basic in the whole Uber stuff . Never mind ASTs. Sheesh.

Your opinion is always valid to me for one, but that last bit might not count for anything at all except on the on the PM board.

Someone who notices how quiet the usual suspects are on the board tonight. It’s amazing looking through threads and not seeing the usual rash of posts from them all over the shop. Does that make me cynical or what?

Other than that, I’m best described as a supporter who has done their time, and I don’t mean in Saughton.

Type of fan?

Once I would have walked over broken glass to see us play in a public park.

Now I’m more of a “ I’ll be there when my club needs me” type of fan. Happy to admit I have openly cried at a few games: win or lose.

I have never understood the concept of fan donations when any club is owned by a multi millionaire.

I have shares and would buy more but don’t contribute to HSL.

Older more cynical fan I guess.

Fully admit I had a mini meltdown after the semi. On reflection the conditions were almost unplayable and a penalty won it. Could have easily gone either way. Slightly embarrassed at my reaction looking back.

I've been saddened by the stick Drey Wright has taken. We haven't learned anything from Newell and Doidge in the early part of last season. I hate when we slate our own.

Think I'm a pretty fair/realistic fan over all. Remember far too many seasons of dross to take anything for granted.

Our prolific resident wind-up merchants, conspicuously absent after yesterday’s result. They know who they are and so do we.

I'm much more able to accept results with equanimity these days, which is, perhaps, just a natural consequence of getting older. Only truly horrific defeats (Hearts in the cup, for example) send me into a rage. I'm still capable of losing the plot when we lose against vastly inferior opposition, but that was much more so in the Championship years, when we lost to some tiny clubs. In the SPL we have no divine right to beat any team, and we've seen it all before. I try to look on the bright side and not take it too seriously, though that can be difficult.

In my 54 years of supporting Hibs I've seen us win 4 major trophies, seen relegation and then promotion, seen us get humped by our main rivals in a final and losing others to good teams and even p ish teams like Ross C and Livingston, I would love to see us being regular top 3-4 every single season but that's never happened in my lifetime, only 2 years in a row we got 2nd was 73-74 and 74-75. I can go from being a grumpy get one week to happy as hell the other, that's what being a Hibs fan is about.

Great point about Drey Wright and the similar treatment of Joe Newell and Christian Doidge.

Some fans just seem to delight in giving their own players abuse. Two great servants of the club in Paul Hanlon and Lewis Stevenson still get it from an element of the Hibs support.

Personally I am the sort of person who takes the rough with the smooth. Supporting Hibs is never going to be glory all the way. Right now, we are in a good place. Long may it continue.
