It would have been bold to bring in Gullan to play on the left and still leave Doidge on the bench, it would have been ultra bold to have Gullan and Boyle wide with Nisbet and Doidge up front.

I’m not convinced we have central midfielders to play 442, but if we do then these 2 are the best bet.

Not a bad team, I wouldn’t say I’m unhappy but with the team having played so well last week I’d have been tempted to keep it as similar as possible with Gullan coming in for Murphy.

Middle of the park might be an interesting battle - are they likely to have Scott Martin and Ben Stirling playing in there for them?

What I don’t get is some players who have been in and out of the team are judged to “need a run of games” but when a player like Wright who has been in and out of the team largely through injury gets a run of games people moan about it.

Depends on the system for me.

Gullan is a forward who drifts in off the left. We’re needing someone to play left midfield today. I think Wright is probably better suited to Gullan for that role - Gullan might leave Stevenson a bit exposed.

As well as Gullan has played lately, it would still be a big call to start him ahead of Doidge.

I’m not unhappy with the team, not unhappy with the reasoning although for me there’s nothing between what we’re doing and bringing Gullan in as a straight swap for Murphy.

Players only deserve a run if they show something in the chances they get. You can’t expect a run if you look poor near enough every time you get a run off the bench or a start.

He's gained experience since and by all accounts has been an important player for them.

Agreed - I think Hallberg's had unnecessary and uncalled for pelters from a section of our support who, from what I can gather, are just not happy unless they've got a target for the bottomless pits of ire they seem to posess. Halberg's had a consistently good level of performance since his arrival whenever called upon and I think has shown great attitude with the head never going down despite having to show a good deal of patience. Hopefully he gets a run and makes the most of it to make himself more of a first pick.
