I didn’t see the game, but the general view, even from some of the posters I’d class as more balanced, wasn’t of the viewpoint we were “fine”, but not looking to argue for arguing sake. Second half sounds really encouraging and an excellent win.

I’ve been critical recently but I thought that second half performance was excellent.

First half I thought was boring, although in hindsight, I can see what you’re saying about it being a good professional performance.

I think we were very pedestrian first half and lacked any sort of intent going forward. Second half was much better.

Best 45 minutes of the season for me, apart from the header that hit the post, Rocky had nothing to do. We controlled the game in the 2nd period, never looked uncomfortable and could have scored another couple.

Never saw that coming after a poor 1st 45 where we were lucky to be level.

I don’t really think we were poor first half. You always expect the home team to have some territory. It was nip and tuck first half hour or so then they dominated till half time. We had much the upper hand in the second half with some great football in patches. Excellent overall.

Far better 2nd half performance where we actually looked to take the game to Motherwell and put them on the back foot, pressing them more, and not conceding possession and allowing crossballs into our box.

Drastic over reaction to the first half performance. We could’ve been behind, but we defended well enough to go in 0-0 and had the best man on the pitch in Newell in both halves of the game.
2nd half was obviously tremendous but the midfield pick wasn’t far away from being bang on by Jack Ross.

Im just watching it now as live and first 25 minutes are scrappy, inconclusive mostly tidy passing from us and solid defence with no cutting edge in the last third. Some sexy skill from Newell aside not much has happened. I’d give us6/10 for the early encounters.

I’d intended to watch it “as live”.

Took my wee girl swimming. Just as I was leaving the changing rooms a pleasant chap saw my Hibs towel and piped up “good result for the boys today.”

It meant I could have a pleasant chat with a naked fellow hibby, but it put the spoilers on me having done a decent job of avoiding the score for a few hours.

Watched the full game on alba and the first half was just two teams cancelling each other out. Second half total different and we were lethal withbour chances. The first goal really lifted the team and when they hit the post you suspected it was our day. Three cracking finishes.

For me, the folk who thought we were poor first half have failed to take into account that Motherwell on their day are a very good side.

It's like folk getting their knickers in a twist about the draw vs St Johnstone, completely failing to see or admit that the Saints were on a run of form.

We all think we do. That's why we are on Hibs Net and not part of JR's coaching team.

You have to love Hibs Net. We are on top in terms of procession and shots on goal. After a fairly even first where both teams nullify each other, we dominate the second half against a good side who have two current Scottish internationalists in their defence. Fans are basically not happy because it was not 6-0.

Motherwell are a very decent team with a central midfielder most on here would take in a heartbeat and 2 international regulars in defence.

Very even first half - both teams negated each other - but we were really good in the second. As always, you want / need a second goal and the subs helped us achieve that (good work JR) as well as giving Doidge some more minutes.

That was an important one for the league table too - regardless of us being in third now, if Well had won that they would have had their tails up and been within 2 points of us - as it is now, we are 8 ahead of them going into a period where there is the possibility of gathering a fair number of points home and away.

Finally, what is it with some fans? Theres one or two regular posters who are missing on here after that result and I cant help but think they would have been all over the thread if we lost that match. Some fans just love a moan and dont know what to do with themselves when we win.

Anyway, onwards and upwards.
