Who's ready to go? for what will be a tough game. I hope Murphy can show the class he has at this level.
Mackie left back again for me and Doidge is due a league goal.
1-1.

Great news about Scott Allan. We have missed him massively however its only light training and when hes ready to return he will probably need to do something of a mini pre season to get fit and then will need games to get sharp so i wouldnt be expecting miracles yet but hopefully the latter part of the season he will give us that cutting edge from midfield we badly lack.

Motherwell*have Scotland Under-21 midfielders*Allan Campbell*and*Barry Maguire*back in the squad for the visit of*Hibernian*following a period of self-isolation.
Gogic will need some help in the midfield, wouldn't be surprised to see three in the middle but then would have to drop either Doidge or Nisbet if we want Murphy in the 11 aswell.
PPV bought £12 good price.

JR "Stevenson back in the squad. Magennis training from Monday (though he said last week he should be available this week?), and a couple of other concerns but will see how they react after training Friday." Presume Hanlon is one of them.

From pre match email -
Lewis Stevenson and Paul Hanlon are in contention for a starting spot after recovering from their respective injuries.
Kyle Magennis is inching closer to a top-team return but Scott Allan remains on the sidelines.

Another chance for Wright and Hallberg. Difficult choices in midfield when you consider how poor Mallan's been. Can see why Doidge isn't starting, he looks like he's carrying an injury.

Quite odd both Hallberg and Wright starting given recent performances hopefully they can turn that perception round. Hopefully Wright stats to show something as has in the main been disappointing though looked a bit sharper last week in the short time he was on. Gogic is a miss in the sort of battle this game will be.

I think its far to say his passing ability is an upgrade on Gogic so swings and roundabouts on this one.

From the team and bench the following must be injured or suspended:
Gogic & Mackie
Best and strongest players available are on the pitch.
Only decision Ross will have wrestled with would be whether to play Doidge.
Only other player of note on the bench is Gullan.

The lack of Gogic would have made the decision. Stevenson offers a defensive capability that Doig doesn't which helps make up for the loss of Gogic.
Hallberg offers a defensive capability and strength that Mallan doesn't.
Would settle for a draw today.

I would guess so, Ross said a couple were touch and go for making it today. Our options are light in quality although we aren’t helped by injuries at the moment. Magennis hopefully back soon so we can see what he’s got.

Even 2pm would be an improvement and would give supporters sufficient time to travel to the game.
Darkness and dampness strikes and temperature begins to drop at 4pm so finishing at 3:50pm would be a big comfort and safety improvement for supporters.

It’s probably not that relevant at our level but Gary Neville was talking about early kick offs and if the 2.5 hours earlier kick off time made a difference He was talking about it in the context of playing midweek, but he said he felt an unquantifiable difference in his performance despite it only being 2.5 hours different. I agree with you, but thought it was quite interesting the point he made as I’d not have thought a few hours would have madeany difference but I suppose your routine and time you eat etc will be different.

What a reaction to the team news before we’ve even kicked a ball. Nowhere near as bad as some are making out and more than good enough to beat Motherwell.
The ones slating the team will be the ones that greet about the players mentality/not being confident enough against the likes of Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Hearts no doubt.
Lets do what fans do and back the team.
Wright for the winner.

I hope we’re not playing just 2 in the middle as we comprehensively lost the midfield in the game at home IMO, albeit they still had Turnbull then.
I’ll feel for the midfield if playing in only a 2, but also time for Newell to step up. Too many games passed him by recently IMO. Hallberg and Wright I’m sceptical of but hopefully they take their chance.

I don’t have a problem with Hallberg getting a chance.
I don’t think you can make a decent combo out of any of our available central midfielders so he’s as decent a shout as anything / anyone else we have.
You could argue he has a more complete, rounded game than the others. He and Newell probably have the least glaring deficiencies in their game. He’s also played pretty well when coming on as a sub of late.
The rest of the team looks fine, a couple of decent options off the bench.
I just don’t fancy our midfielders much at all.
