What's the best life advice you have either gave or received?
Be yourself.

You are number one in this short life.
Don't hurt others.
Go Vegan, for the animals, yourself and the planet.
Invest in Bitcoin, ignore price fluctuations. Long term it's only going up.

:agree: it’s a subtle but significant change but the difference it makes to life and relationships when you follow the platinum rule is incredible.
Couple of bits of advice that i always liked:
If you don’t want to be called an ********, don’t act like an ********.
Choose your battles and remember what’s really important to you before deciding of something is worth the hassle.
Hold yourself to the same standards that you hold others to.

Find an extra 5 minutes of patience.
Advice given by my grandfather, he applied it to the kids, especially with bedtime. However I've found myself applying it to lots of different scenarios, especially when technology is involved.
Jambo ******* that he is. I swear it's just to wind us up.

Job satisfaction over money every single time. Chuck a new Tag on your wrist and new Valentino's on your feet and granted yes, you'll feel barry for a few hours. Book your dream holiday to the other side of the world and again, you'll feel on top of the world. Just wait for the dopamine to wear off though and you'll be back to square one. No point in being able to afford to goto Singapore for 3 weeks if after the 2nd day you're filled with absolute dread about going back to works in 2.5 weeks time.
Don't get caught up in work. Doesn't apply to everyone but to most, you're just a number. An object that a firm can use to help them make money. When that stops you can be disposed of just as simple as an office chair. Do what your paid to do, work the hours you're paid to work and no more.
Not everyone will agree but thats my advice. I'm out the corporate rat race due to covid and I ain't going back. Feel great for it. SLA's, change approval boards, a meeting to discuss the next meeting then another meeting to discuss the meeting we just had. To hell with that.

Whatever the issue is, if it can be fixed, then why worry. If it can't be fixed, does worrying about it change anything.

Be happy with what you have now. If you say "I'll be happy when....." you're only creating the conditions for unhappiness.

Anxiety is the dizziness of freedom.
I find it helpful when I'm trying to take stock of challenging moments. There's something bittersweet about human freedom in this sense, but I find it to be a mostly positive thought.

Thread title reminded me of the oft-repeated 70s sitcom (though not seen it on TV for a while now). Felicity Kendal was always easy on the eye.
The sort of life they tried to create would likely become more conventional if we ended up in lockdown for years.

Perhaps not the most profound (or even sensible) but I remember my dad saying to me “the weekend always starts on a Thursday”.
I lived by that mantra for all of my 20’s
