View Full Version : The Covid19 conspiracy

I'm posting a new discussion so's not to mess up the very good coronavirus thread.

Last night I watched a doctor stating at some sort of public meeting that there was no pandemic, that nearly everyone that has died were on their way out anyway and that the rise in positive tests is really down to more people being immune.

So my question is, who has what to gain if this is all a conspiracy? There's obviously big pharma, but would that be enough to force the world's governments to take the measures they have?

If there has been a deliberate, massive overreaction, what could the ulterior motives be?

Crash the economy -> opportunities for disaster capitalists?

I don't think there is any mainstream belief there isn't a pandemic.

It's origins, human influence on said origin and our general disregard for encroaching on nature, the response of governments, our preparedness for another (potentially more deadly) pandemic and a million other questions are all up for a discussion that would be far more worthwhile than denial that a pandemic exists.

Crash the economy -> opportunities for disaster capitalists?

But that would mean that nearly all the world's governments and top virologists are in on the scam.

Gates has fiddled all their data.

Did the Doctor in question say there was a conspiracy? If so, did he give a motive?

The thing that annoys me the most about these people is they way they look down on everyone else as if they’re some kind of enlightened group. They call everyone sheep for following guidelines, but it’s these people who are sheep, they get sucked in by people with ulterior motives like selling a book they’ve written or having people attend talks they’re giving. David Icke is absolutely loaded.

All those countries which hate each other, working together.

Communists and capitalists side by side. Israel and the Arab world. North and South Korea. India and Pakistan.

It's a beautiful thang.

These things I think are interesting social science topics ...seeing how people react and adjust the their views to these conspiracies..

There will be people who are naturally cynical and want to be anti the established view ..More Often people want to affiliate within groups. Particularly if the group have other sets of beliefs that they have affinity for ..political views are obvious ones around this pandemic . People seem to believe groups who have other opinions they share, and view others with opposing views as “dangerous”.. the fires of this enflamed by certain groups who like to destabilise places by growing these divisions through clever social media tactics ...Russia for example, are grabbing influence by creating divisions in other countries..those architects of extreme politics here on both sides of the divide will also enjoy the chasms created by these divisions..

Control?

People will believe that the restrictions we live with now won't be reversed when there is no need for them anymore. I'm not sure which ones or what governments would gain from it though.

I'm sure someone did actually provide an example of a temporary measure that was put in place (akin to a Covid regulation) that was then kept permanently in the not to distant past though.

Bollox mate, if he's a doctor he's a rubbish one. Doesn't sound he's spent much time on Covid wards or likely any time in the filed recently. Who is he/she? Name?

absolutely this :agree:

they have this smug, superior attitude, and sneer at anyone who doesn’t buy into their speil

When you provide sensible evidence, they disregard it as tainted, produced by Bill Gates, etc etc. When you ask them for proof, they arrogantly tell you to do your own research.

my wife’s father and uncle are fully bought into this nonsense. Both spout utter garbage, and don’t like being called out for it

The only questions you need to ask these ****ers is why? And keep asking it until they tie themselves in knots or tell you to “do your own research”. It’s easy to trip them up.

The issue is that you can't reason someone out of a position that someone hasn't been reasoned into. No amount of persuading these people that they have been conned wil ever work as they've been turned away from "mainstream media" who are far from perfect but a whole lot better than someone on YouTube that can say whatever they want without any scrutiny whatsoever.

This kind of ties in with the post-truth society thread, but there are way too many people - including politicians - that have realised that it's the easiest method of gaining the attention of people. So many things that are generally accepted as sheer ****ing stupidity has been painted as "sticking it to the man" (e.g. Brexit, President Trump etc) involve listening to very wealthy individuals without any expertise at all.

This is only going to get worse and truth be told I don't know what the answer to it is.

Well put - the bit in bold.

A lot of these ideas and "projects" like Trumpism and Brexit are way, way more to do with emotion than they are reason or fact. "People are sick of experts" because having knee-jerk kick out is way more satisfying, and it's a satisfaction that demands feeding more and more.
