Just interested in views on this. 2 multi millionaire actors are taking over Wrexham who play in the National League and pledged £2 million to make them global competitors. I live in Carlisle and I would be surprised if £2 million gets them even in to their league. Good on them but think they might need to invest a bit more than that ? Big ambitions or am I being harsh ?i think what they are doing is great as club is currently in fans ownership and probably need funding in current situation

I totally get that but it is a big statement to come out with for a modest investment. If they are talking big time then what does even £50 million get you ? John McGinn and his 2 brothers maybe ? Just joking of course but puts it in to perspective if they are quoting Man United type aspirations. Just think they are raising hopes of Wrexham fans to a level an awful long way away from them and would be more credence if they said a return to league football was their goal

Exactly and why I am asking the question . I just dont get it. Get a Dubai millionionare putting in tens of millions with that statement but £2 million ?

How much does it cost to climb a league or 2 at that level in England? Would £2M be enough?

We have seen the money the likes of Hearts have thrown at trying to get on a level with Celtic and how much it has cost Rangers to claw themselves back to that level. They have 2 cups, an administration and a liquidation between them out of it.

Different levels obviously but buying success costs a shed load of money in football.

Good luck to them. Foreign ownership is not unusual now and we have it ourselves. They’ve made their money from acting primarily although I’m sure both have successful production companies and so on too. I think there’s just a bit more comment because of their profession.

Explore the renovation of the Racecourse Ground and improve the venue for the club, for International matches and perhaps, the occasional Tom Jones gig.

Invest in a permanent training facility that is worthy of an EFL club.

Guarantee the club cannot be relocated, renamed or rebranded. Appropriate and respectful observance of the Gresford Colliery Disaster will remain sacrosanct.

Recognising the role fans and the WST have played in stewarding the club through extremely difficult times, we will create an honorary board that includes fans, representatives of the WST and WAFC alongside our own advisors.

Ensure the continued presence of Dixie McNeil as the club's honorary President, subject to his desire.

Expand club staff to take advantage of increased interest in Wrexham, both locally and internationally.

Recognise and reinforce Wrexham AFC's role as a leading force for community good in the town. If I was a Wrexham fan I’d be delighted that any kind of involvement could potentially improve my club, I would also realistically be aware that it doesn't mean that the team will race through the divisions reaching premier league status anytime soon, good luck to them.

I tell you now, if this statement had been what Ron said when buying hibs then most if not all fans would have fallen in love straight away.... I’m not saying Ron approached the purchase any differently and I’m sure his intentions are the same as these two Hollywood stars I’m just pointing out what a great statement they’ve made... they’ve certainly peaked my interest and I don’t follow Wrexham in the slightest.

I think back in the 70s when Welsh Clubs playing in the football league could still represent Wales in Europe through winning the Welsh Cup, they had a few good results in the old cup winners cup, got to the quarter finals one year.

I agree. They seem sensible enough and they do have a lot of money. Seems like it’s the history and longevity of the club that hooked them (and North Americans love a bit of heritage).

Cash flow is often the issue, especially lower down the pyramid. £2m, spent wisely, could go a long way and create a platform for them to get back in the league and build from there.

The problem is, they’ve just invited every unscrupulous character in football to get in touch. They need strong resolve to sift through all the chancers and dodgy agents who will now be approaching them.

As a Hibs ST holder who's been a Chester fan for 40 years, I'm not sure this is the path I could recommend. That said, I've a whole bunch of cross border derby memories to look back on (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-border_derby). Feisty affairs. Obviously I mostly remember the ones we won.
