Confirmed his dad did die last week. Such a shame for the lad and shows how courageous he is playing and stepping up for the penalty on Saturday.

Respect to him for playing at the weekend.

Gutted for him, can only imagine how that would have played on his mind.

That takes some balls to play in such an important game at such a young age, under those circumstances.

Seems a well rounded young man now, a credit to his dad and family.

Sorry to hear of Kevin’s loss. Kudos for playing at the weekend, nobody could have blamed him for sitting it out.

I really admiring him for stepping up on Saturday whilst going through what will be one of the toughest moments of his life in losing his Dad. Amazing he managed to play - I wouldn’t have been able to, so absolutely fair play to him 👏

Some amount of bottle he's shown to not just play but be prepared to take the penalty to try and win the match for us.

Thoughts are with you, Kevin.

100%. Speaks volumes for his character. All know he’s an absolute star for us but this really shows his drive and determination.

Quiet tragic for a young man to lose his Dad. I have such huge admiration for him playing on Saturday and keeping up his standards. He was incredibly brave to take that penalty and knew he had to put it as far out of Gordon’s reach as possible. Always going to be fine margins at that level.

I am sure he will be getting lots of support from the Club and now is the time to put Saturday’s result behind us and give the lad our backing.

Much respect for the lad for the circumstances he found himself in and nobody could surely have complained if he had requested not to play, however with regards the penalty the way Gordon was being he knew the only place he could put it that he wouldn`t save it or fluke it was the top corner,it wasn`t his night sadly and I`m sure he`ll come back better, stronger and more determined!

Such a tragedy for a young man to lose his dad who was his hero.
Took a lot of courage for him to play never mind take the penalty.
Thoughts are with Kevin and his family.

Folk are questioning the mentality at the club. Having read the piece on the official site (not at all easy), I'd say they've got it spot on.

Also very impressed with Kevin's outlook. Some wise words from a switched on young man.

Really sorry for him and his family. I certainly have no ill will towards him for his penalty miss and that was before this news was confirmed. I hadn’t seen any other Hibby have a go at him for it despite how disappointing it was, it’s just one of those things. He’s been brilliant since he signed for us and it says a lot that he’s been that way despite what’s been going on in his personal life.

Tragic news, very strong of Kevin to keep it to himself for so long before speaking out. Incredibly mature and thoroughly admirable approach to such a devastating situation. Kevin is a brave man, I'm sure he'll continue to make his father proud, as he will the rest of his family too.

RIP Thomas.

That's really terrible. The poor guy, losing one of your parents is a nightmare.

I've no idea how he managed to play on Saturday, given how he must be feeling.

A tough read. But what a credit to his Mum and Dad. A very mature and grown up young man he has become. Condolences to Kevin and his extended family. Keep up the good work Kevin and make your Dad even prouder of you.

I really feel for the lad.

My dad died very suddenly when I was 30, and (sad to say) it was a relief to lose yourself in work where you could forget your grief for a little time. BUT you felt guilty at having forgotten the grief, and that is sometimes harder to get over. But I am sure the club will stand by him and his family.

I wish there was some way that HIBS.net can relay to him our heartfelt condolences.

What a tremendous strength of character Kevin showed by playing on Saturday even more so stepping up for a vital penalty. One of these things he didn't score His comments about his dad are very moving. RIP.

My admiration for Kevin (and his family) has gone through the roof. He has coped with this extremely difficult time with a huge degree of courage and maturity and it cannot have been easy for him. Jack and the whole team have also acted with great empathy and support. Saturday's result was was a real tough one to take but this puts things in perspective.
