Has passed away, aged 90.

One of Scotland’s finest ever actors and the quintessential James Bond.

2020 can really **** off.

Sorry to hear that.

He said hello to me a few years ago in Murrayfield, walking to David Murray's house. He had bought a newspaper at Wester Corner.

Very down to earth.

That’s one of those moments that gives you a massive jolt when you hear that. Absolute legend of a man who will be sorely missed.

Big part of all our lives, Mike Myers, description of him as the “quintessential Scotsman” came to mind when I heard the news. True, true legend - RIP.

Sad news. Loved him in The Untouchables, as well as Indiana Jones 3 as Mon Dieu4 mentioned above.

“You wanna get Capone? Here's how you get him. He pulls a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue! That's the Chicago way.”

Wow, I have never been nervous meeting famous folk but Connery was on another level due to his movie profile

My Grandad was a school friend of Connery, they also played football together.

A few years back he was interviewed for an American documentary and as part of the set up he walked past Brunstfield and Darroch schools and I was beside him and he was to pout things out to me. I'm sure there is a VHS they sent us after it aired kicking about somewhere at my parents house.

Sean Connery is James Bond, everyone else who takes the role aspires to be him. I also love The Untouchables and

Thats awful news. An absolute Edinburgh icon. Everyones mum or granny in the part of the town I grew up in claimed to have had him as their milkman, either some of them were fibbing or he was the fastest milkman known to man.

Sad news indeed, big Tam was a proud Scot, did a lot of work for kids and although every part he played it was always with his Scottish brogue, he was a fine actor. My favourite part he played was in The Hill, set in an army prison camp in the Lybian desert.

My ex met him when they were both doing hill walks for charity, he used to phone her from time to time. They've both passed on now, RIP Sean.

P.S. Apart from 007 I thought he was great in The Untouchables and Highlander.

On a music forum that I frequent there is a poster, who is entirely sensible, states that Sean Connery was a Hibs fan in his younger days, switched to Celtic when they were big shots in Europe, then became a Rangers fan due to friendship with David Murray.

I’d heard about the Celtic/Rangers switch but had never ever heard of a link to Hibs. You’d think where he grew up he would have an affinity to them if anything. Anyone heard this before?

If there was any truth to it they would've changed the name in the film's to 07! ☺

Out of curiosity what’s the music forum? SteveHoffman? I ask as one of the things I enjoy in life most is discovering new (or old) music and adding it to the CD collection.

You got it. :greengrin

Fantastic forum, I’ve learnt and discovered so much on that forum and it’s responsible for me buying far too many CD’s over recent years (that’s mainly what I buy these days though I still have all my records from way back I don’t really buy any vinyl now).

What I like is that there are a lot of audiophile types who love finding the best pressing of a record and there are threads devoted to that, but there are plenty of threads for just music fans (like me) to discuss artists, albums.

I’ve asked the person who posted about Connery being a Hibs fan initially, but no reply yet.
