I have huge reservations about Mallan as a player, however....

He clearly has strong attributes, and if there was ever a decent formation to allow him to take advantage of them whilst not showing up his weaknesses then this is it.

Back 3 - solid. Gogic and Newell are an excellent, hardworking base to the midfield so there shouldn’t be much defending for him to do. Big chap up front for him to try to get close to and feed off, Boyle and Nisbet for him to try and play in.

I like it tbh, and there are many set ups Hibs could go with where I just wouldn’t fancy Mallan.

He’s a weird player because he tries hard, clearly cares a lot and has a lot to offer but I’m miles from sold in him as he’s been part of many of our worst midfield performances in recent years.

Big game for him today, I hope he impresses, I really do.

Not a bad game. Not convinced it was a penalty and would like to see it again. Better chances have come by the way of Kilmarkock's crossing. They're more purposeful on the ball through midfield and are getting it out wide as a result nearer our box. Our strikers are mainly picking the ball up from deep and playing it out wide.

Haven't really dominated stretches of the game, but have defended soundly and got the all important opening goal.

New rules from 2 seasons ago, it's where the player becomes active, not where he was caught offside that the free kick is taken. Nisbet came back from an offside position, but played the ball in the Hibs half. Correct place for the free kick to be taken from.

I don’t see why there’s such a debate about the penalty. One of those ones that are really annoying tk go against you but the killie defender didn’t know who was around him and it was a clumbsy swipe.

Imo it was identical to the one Boyle gave away against Aberdeen.

Good concentrated opening 10 minutes, but we've done very little to merit the lead overall. We haven't tested their goalie yet (?), we lose far too many balls needlessly, our passing game is as ever poor going forward and we are too slow in moving forward from defence.
Mallan and McGuinn having very poor games, the rest are so-so with notable exceptions of Marciano and Stevenson IMO ..
We need to create more going forward and take any chances that may come - game's not over, Killie getting more and more into game - be interesting to see what Ross comes up with for 2nd half

I don’t see why there’s such a debate about the penalty. One of those ones that are really annoying tk go against you but the killie defender didn’t know who was around him and it was a clumbsy swipe.

Imo it was identical to the one Boyle gave away against Aberdeen.

It's similar to the one against Boyle, but the contact was not as clear.

What are people’s thoughts on the way things started after the Dikamona injury. Killie player meant to play it back to Hibs and does so. However he plays it in to an area where one of his own team has got in a position to be right on top of the recipient, who was McGinn. Bit iffy if you ask me

My point was a Hibs commentary that couldn`t tell the difference between 2 of our own players,so Killie commentary is biased towards their own team,,.,,what a shock!
