As usual twith his level of incompetence he won’t have the nous to apologise and admit he got it horribly wrong due to his dislike for us. Just a complete dickhead.

Well deserved he's worked hard.

Would be lucky to make the bench for Celtic I was told by the lesser green at the work along with we will just wait till his contract is up give him treble what you give him and he will be happy with that.
Strangely he never mentions anything about him now probably for the fact he is doing well in England and no doubt earns more than anyone of there mob.

Well deserved captaincy , despite all the speculation he still gave 100% for us right up until he left. Story from Strachan where Mcginn helped the kit man with all the gear tells you the type of man he is.

I remember someone on here saying I was mad because I suggested that when he was still in the Championship with Villa that he'll end his career with a Champions League winners medal.

He'd genuinely have a place in any top team down south. Imagine how much more confidence a Salah, Sterling, De Bruyne etc. would have knowing that if they try a pass that doesn't work out that they'd have McGinn busting a gut to win the ball back and get the ball back to them up the field.

He's a phenomenal talent and, dare I say it, every bit as good as Andy Robertson.

Great that we played a big part in his journey and in due course we are going to do very well out of it financially too.

I think we all knew he was a special talent but he is going to be better than I thought, So strong, gallous, aggressive and what an engine. He is also much better technically than many give him credit for . He is like a Scotland International from the 70s and 80s rather than some of the guff we have watched over the last decade.

John should have been MOTM as he genuinely drove the team with his energy and led by example, exactly as a captain should. There were other players who played well but John was exceptional. Dykes should have been shown a red card for stamping on the player's back when he could have avoided it plus he committed an earlier trip on a player that also went without a booking IIRC. I appreciate that he played a brilliant through ball for the goal but he needs to mature. Perhaps John could have a word with him before the next ref does.

Regarding the value of SJM, which has been mentioned by other posters, I was one of those who said at the time of his transfer that he was worth at least £9m based on the average transfer price for a midfielder in the English Championship, which at that time was around £15m believe it or not. Villa got a steal but that's not their fault. It's the way that Scottish football is valued. Every Scottish football fan should be rooting for our national team, if for no other reason than to increase the value of our home talent.

I said to my mates when he went to Villa that he’d be a £20m player and got routinely laughed at for bigging him up.

Villa fans absolutely love him and rate him £60m to £80m some say he is more important to the team than Grealish. Villa now have wealthy owners would they sell him? Hope they do sell him for figures quoted. When Celtic were interested a few Celtic supporting mates said he would be a squad player. I said that SJM would be their top player,I think I was right. He dominated the midfield against Liverpool need we say more.

Think there have been similar comments laughed at on this board too but the truth is it's highly unlikely that Villa would even consider selling him for less than £40 million at the moment.

He's just run the current EPL Champions ragged and got 2 (official) man of the match awards in 3 international games.- the boy is absolutely brilliant. I'm not sure what EPL scouts weren't seeing when he was with us- even in his relatively poor games his presence was immense

If John was from a "fashionable"country rather than Scotland he could play for any club in the world and be worth an absolute fortune. Be interesting to see how he would fair if we qualify for Euros and what his value would be at the end of it.

It would take a rediculous bid to tempt Villa to sell SJM such is the importance financially of staying in the EPL. They'd have to spend a fortune replacing him. I fully expect John to stay with Villa for the next couple of years unless they get relegated and even then only if the deal suits both parties, he'll not be forcing any sale or handing in any transfer requests such is the character of the man.

This morning I awoke dreaming of SJM turning Henderson at Wembley before striking a 30 yarder past a stationary Pickford. Not sure where Maguire was as he wasn't in my dream.

Just saying!!!

SJM was quite ecstatic, which makes me think it was a late winner!
