Is this going to be a forfeit as they're still self isolating?

EDIT: Just seen it's going ahead as the rest their squad managed to get tested.

I may have misunderstood but from what I've read, lower league clubs are only required to test full squad in the days prior to games against Premiership teams. So Forfar couldn't give guarantees that team would be Covid-free to play Dundee last week, so forfeited the tie after a player was seperately diagnosed. On the other hand, because they are required to test before our game- they can give this assurance. With Hibs & Dundee both having full points from 1st 2 games, good chance group could be decided on goal difference - the key difference being the 3 goals which Dundee were awarded against Forfar, a game that would have went ahead if there had been a testing requirement.

If we beat Dundee as we should there will be no need for it to be decided on goal difference

There would also be penalties if it ended in a draw so pretty unlikely it will come down to goal difference

True, hadn't thought of that.
Could still happen though, and if any team was to advance in any group in such circumstances it could hardly be considered fair.

It’s already wildly unfair that Aberdeen are allowed to reschedule games they missed as their players wilfully ignored the rules yet other teams forfeit.

There's insufficient match day slots available to be able to rearrange fixtures so 0-3 forfeits is the only practical solution. Every club that is unable to fulfill a League Cup fixture in these circumstances is being treated exactly the same, which I'd have thought was the very definition of fairness. I think we should leave the complaints about things being "unfair" to our city neighbours (who, in any case, were looking to be treated exceptionally, not fairly). We'll have had four games to overturn any perceived advantage that Dundee might have gained from the forfeited game, including a head-to-head with them so if we don't finish above them we won't have deserved to.

The only combination of results from the remaining games in which goal difference becomes a factor is if we draw with Dundee, both of us draw our remaining game against League One opponents, and both of us win one and lose one of the resultant penalty shoot outs.

Or one of us lose our third games and the team that loses wins the head to head. It’s very unlikely though, who’s to say they wouldn’t have put 4/5 past Forfar.

There's different rules between league and cup.

No team has so far forfeited a league match.

We can’t really afford to risk injuries for Ross County game. Maybe see Mackie come in at left wing back. Gullan and Shanley up top?

Or play Nisbet and Shanley up top and Gullan on left?

Ryan Shanley was on loan at Forfar last season so knows the ground well and may get a run out.

..........from Wiki, he is only showing to have played 1 game for Forfar

Barnes
Gray McGregor Stevenson
Boyle Magennis Mallan Hallberg Gullan
Doidge Shanley

We're pretty limited in defence so I suspect it'll be the same as Cove. I'd give Magennis a start, give him an hour or so. I'd rest Nisbet for the weekend, and play Shanley up front with Doidge. Gullan has looked effective on the left so I'd start him there. Hopefully Doidge can get a goal, we can't have him go on another goal-less run last last year, especially with big games coming up.

Wrong, every club is not being treated the same. Otherwise there would be the same testing procedure in place regardless of what league the opposition play in. Its this difference which led to Dundee being awarded a 3-0 win.

Whether they were willing to or not, they weren’t able to due to the Government stopping them as a precaution. I’m sure Forfar wanted to play Dundee but simply wouldn’t be right to.

Callum Yeats can play LB of LCB. Maybe give him a run out in a back 4. Or play Mackie LB

Barnes
Gray MacGregor Yeats Mackie
Magennis McGinn Halberg

Shanley Gullan

Diamond midfield. Not ideal but we don’t have any other options just now.

Protect Stevenson, Boyle, Nisbet and Doidge for Ross County.

Ben Stirling & Sadiki both left. Josh Doig has played CB but I assume he's still out?

Thank you my Lordship.

Looks like we'll be grinding out a result then. Our older guys, Gray and McGreggor in particular probably can't take another match so soo on plastic? Martin Boyle's knee probably needs a rest too.

Time for the really young ones?

Supposing Nisbet gets called up, and Doidge gets called up for Wales - at what point would the Forfar game be called off? Or can it be?

If we can't field a team because of Covid fair enough, but if we can't field a team because a UEFA competition takes precedence then what's the rule for the League Cup?

Aye, they are team in decline, compared to Brora and Cove who are used to winning. Went from 2nd top League 1 18-19 to 2nd bottom 19-20, only winning 6 games and -21 goal difference. Lost at home pre-season to Brechin who have been well and truly pumped their last two games. Even with our depleted squad, players playing out of position, plastic pitch etc. we should cruise this one with a Titanic win.
